It's because of the way that the code puts in BR when you linefeed... your HTML has breaks in it that are being turned into br tags.

To avoid this in the future, cram all of the html into one long string without breaks before pasting it in.

Just to completely screw up the BCS, Utah will finish in the top 6 AND the Iowa State/Nebraska survivor that finishes 4-4 in conference and 6-5 overall will win the Big 12 title game to ensure that California and Texas both miss the BCS games.

The Left, the base of the Democratic Party, hail the virtues of tolerance and consider themselves to be the tolerant citizens of America. In their touting of tolerance they express their obvious disdain for those whose views run contrary to that of enlightened Liberalism.

Dare to make a statement of conviction of any kind, and one of these Leftists will set down his cheese and wine, pause his lecture on the virtues of plurality and the absurdity of the belief in absolute Truth, and tell you your convictions -- everything you believe and hold dear -- are absolutely wrong. Where does he get his understanding that what you claim is "right" is actually not? Against what standard is this wrongness measured? He can't say. All he knows is that you're a bigot, you're intolerant, you're not worthy of being an American. In fact, you're not smart enough to understand what it means to be an American.

And not only are you dumb, you're dangerous. Fanatics like you don't belong in a "tolerant" culture like ours. You and your beliefs and the people who share them should not be allowed in our civilized society . . . or, at the very least, you should be denied the right to vote. Because when you vote, when you're politically active, you screw everything up. -Chris Field, Human Events, 11/5/04

No, they won't. Even if they win out, their strength of schedule will only drop from here on out. Not judging, just sayin'.

No mention of Notre Dame being bowl eligabl?. Don't be surprised if they beat USC to totally throw things out of control. I expect them to play either Miami or Florida State since it will be a money game for both schools, hosts and not matter in the grand schemes of things.

The way this year is going, I think the full chaos theory hits the BCS bowls.

Orange: California (1 loss, not conference champion) vs. Oklahoma.

Sugar: Auburn (1 loss) vs. West Virginia

Rose: USC (1 loss Pac-10 Champs who skin their knee in a major 7 turnover upset against Notre Dame, and bitching that a team they beat and finished ahead of in conference is playing for a national title) vs. Wisconsin (unbeaten Big Ten Champs and bitching about getting stuck in the Rose when a non-conference Champ, 1 loss team plays for the National Title ).

Fiesta: Utah(unbeaten and getting in the game when Texas screws up against A@M) vs. Miami.

And I thought last years BCS bowl games had no interest. If this happens, and it doesn't take to many variables for this to hit, people will be calling either for a playoff or for the old rigged pre-BCS system where at least fans got match-ups that interested them.

For Notre Dame to be BCS eligible, they need either 9 wins or to be in the Top 12 in the final BCS standings. Due to screwing up against BYU and BC, they can only get to 8 if they run the table. However, a Notre Dame vs. FSU (or Miami should they not win the ACC) Gator Bowl probably would do better numbers than BCS Bowls. Actually, the non-BCS games could theoretically get decent to good Texas, Notre Dame, FSU, Miami, Florida, Ohio State, Georgia, LSU, Tenn., and Michigan teams that would be big ticket and TV draws.

IF Miami can run the Conf table, there could be a 3-way tie for the ACC title. Who would get the Bowl bid? That would be a good question.

For Miami to run the table, they would have to beat both Virginia and Virginia Tech. Tech and Virgina play each other, so in that scenario, one would have 3 losses. That would leave the winner of Tech/Virginia, Miami and FSU tied (should FSU run the conference table as well). Under these circumstances, Miami gets the Conference title since they would have won head to head vs. FSU and the winner of Tech/Virginia.

I looked into this more deeply.

Under this senario:

Miami is 2-0 against FSU and Virginia, FSU is 1-1 against Miami and Virginia (They do not play VT), and Virginia are 0-2 against Miami and FSU.
Miami is Team A
FSU is Team B
VA is Team C

1. If Team A is ranked higher than Teams B and C, Team A earns the BCS bid.
2. If Team A is not the highest ranked, but is in the Top 10, Team A earns bid unless Team B or C is ranked either #1 or #2 in the BCS standings, then Team B or C receives the BCS bid.
3. If Team A is not ranked, but the highest ranked team in the mini-conference is ranked #21 or lower, Team A earns the BCS bid.
4. If Team A is not the highest ranked team and is ranked more than five spots below the highest ranked team in the mini-conference, Team A is eliminated from consideration.

Subsequently,
1. If Team B is ranked higher than Team C, Team B earns the BCS bid.
2. If Team B is ranked lower than Team C, but is in the Top 10, Team B earns bid unless Team C is ranked either #1 or #2 in the BCS standings, then Team C receives the BCS bid.
3. If Team B is ranked lower than Team C, but ranked five or fewer spots below Team C, Team B earns bid, unless Team C is ranked either #1 or #2 in the BCS standings, then Team C receives the BCS bid.
4. If Team B is ranked lower than Team C, but is ranked six or more spots below Team C, Team C earns the BCS bid.

With the help of http://theacc.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/092204aad.html

Actually Google helped. The search feature of the ACC official site will only return search results older than one year (for me at least).

Then again, maybe everyone will get what they want, and we'll have an Oklahoma vs USC national championship game. Only it'll be a year too late.

Personally, I don't want to see Utah in the BCS. Put them in the Liberty Bowl or something. Since these teams won't be in the title game anyway, I wish the non-BCS conference teams would quit bitching about lack of access to the big games. There's a reason that they don't get invited; no one really wants to see them on New Year's Day.

As for California in the Title Game, I think that would certainly be the death knell for the BCS. It's very heavily based on polls now, and we all know that with the polls, it's a LOT better to lose in week one rather than November because of all the time you have to make up the spots that you lost. I don't see why they kept eliminating aspects of the BCS formula. I know that it was never perfect or anything, but at least it attempted to do more than "average the poll rankings." If the BCS would just go away, we'd get things like Big 10 vs Pac 10 Rose Bowls and split National Champions. You know, things the way they ought to be!

...aaaand they're already down to 7 in the BCS standings. Only way they can move up is for a bunch of teams ahead to start losing hardcore.

Has the BCS been more irrelevant (or at least unable to justify its existence) than this year? Now it's almost all poll, along with some comp rankings.

No, if Notre Dame wins at Southern Cal, be quite surprised.

Come on, Scott, they gave Michigan their only lose and probably the one thing keeping them from the Big Ten title. They went to Tennesse and won there. USC will be a tough game, but I think they will pull it out. They rise to the level of their opponetts unless its Purdue, I just don't know what happened in that game.
