Had Mel Brooks made a good movie since Spaceballs, I'd be more impressed.

That was such an "Eighties" movie, I'm not sure a sequel is gonna translate well in the 21st century ... but I'm still holding out hope!

I remember a long time ago (I was still in high school, I believe) there was some kind of entertainment report on the radio, and they mentioned that Brooks was working on a sequel entitled "Spaceballs 3: In Search of Spaceballs 2". I wonder if there was ever any truth to that ...

Then draw a chicken on it, with two poker-dice for eyes,
An' have it wavin' razors round its head ...

Can someone please tell me the point of all this? I love Spaceballs as much as the next guy but really a sequel sounds pointless and is a stupid idea. Mel Brooks really hasn't made a truly good movie since Spaceballs, what can you do with a sequel really? John Candy has passed and that means no more Barf the mawg (or is it mog?).

I'm just glad this means Rick Moranis will finally be able to get back off the streets.

Who's to say that Moranis, Pullman, or anyone else will resume their roles? I would imagine that the new Spaceballs movie would be a spoof of the newer trilogy.

An interesting and comedic side note: with all the Star Wars DVD hype, the Radio Shack at the Yonge/Eglinton Centre in Downtown TOronto was showing Spaceballs on their TV sets. I found that to be hilarious.

The SOK has seen the following cinematic masterpieces so far this year:

Eurotrip; Scooby Doo 2; Shrek 2; The Ladykillers; Spider-Man 2; Anchorman; 13 Going On 30; Day After Tomorrow; Harry Potter 3.

Best: 13 Going On 30; Worst: Day After Tomorrow

This reminds me of that headline The Onion had years ago (just before the release of Phantom Menace, actually) that had Jonathan Lipnicki (the little kid with the spiky hair from Jerry Maguire) cast as Young Dark Helmet in a SpaceBalls prequel.
