Ouch.

I was very surprised that the G-Men put him in, if only because the pass defense was doing quite well against Warner, and you know the second that Eli was in, some of the vets on the D-line were licking their chops at the thought of flattening Eli. I thought he did OK, nothing special, but not a major disaster. He looked rusty, throwing at feet and the like, but that hit by McDougle was brutal.

On the other hand, all my worries about the Eagles went away with this game. Of course, they'll be back next week, but Westbrook showed that he can do it all himself (as long as he gets 20 or less carries a game) and T.O. not only looked spectacular, but he made others (notably Pinkston, L.J. Smith, and Chad Lewis) looks good by blocking well, and, more importantly, taking a lot of the coverage with him down the field. The loss of Shawn Andrews hurts, but Artis Hicks is capable, and at least he's not Bobbie Williams (Mr. False Start).

Before printing the Eagles Super Bowl T-Shirts, remember that the Giants O-Line is; if I'm in a generous mood, hideous, the linebackers are atrocious, and the secondary sucks. But, at least Big Blue will have a high first round pick in '05. Oh wait, almost forgot Big Blue got rid of it already.

As serious as that hit looks in the photograph, it looked about 100 times worse live at full speed.

I was absolutely stunned that he was able to get up -- he got absolutely demolished.

And if the Giants want him to live to see next year, they'll want to give him the Carson Palmer treatment this year.

Good point, dr. And if Eli learned the "don't ever scramble around aimlessly with your head down near the line of scrimmage" lesson, he may be OK.

Another shot like today, though, and the Giants might as well put Cooper Manning behind center.

I was actually upset at the Giants for blowing any chance Warner had of succeeding. From not protecting him at all to having people drop many of his passes, Kurt just had no chance in this game.

Manning may not have looked great, but I'm sure that the NY sports fans will try their hardest to convince Cough to never start Warner again. And if this is how the offense treats him, I'll ask for it as well.

Brutal/Great Hit - I'm sure that Eli wished he were playing against Vanderbilt instead

Yes, welcome to the NFL indeed.

And am I the only one who feels bad for Warner? From grocery stock boy, to two-time NFL MVP, to. . .this.

I watched the game and I thought the Giants D was the huge weak point for the team. Kurt was ok, but I'm sure its bette than putting Eli in there espically after that hit, och. Kurt has been damaged goods thanks to Coach Martz's inability to get Kurt out of the concussion game. Even if you didn't know he had a concussion, he should have gotten him out of there after some of those damn ass plays. I just hope Kurt has enough money for the last of his life, because knowing NY he'll be sitting pine after the third week.

I can't say Eli looked much better either. I thought he should have been put in sooner like when it was 31-10. He has to learn to take shots and not do stupid ass things like run around with like a chicken with his head cut off. It will take time with him, but in a city like New York, he won't have it. I say he gets traded in two years to San Diego and has a good career out there.

Geez, can't we go one fricking game without losing someone for the season? I wasn't too impressed by our O-Line last year, particularly come playoff time, and Andrews was looking pretty good from the little I saw of pre-season.

Other than that the game went pretty damned well. T.O. takes a huge amount of pressure and coverage of Pinkston and L.J., and I really like the look of Westbrook this past year or so.

The run D still might be suspect, but overall much better than opening week tends to be for us Iggles.

The hit on Manning was even nastier than the hit on Feagles, and that's saying something. (Lynch's hit on Hall in the Broncos-CHIEFS (idiot == me) game is its main competition for hit of the week.)

As a Broncos fan, it sure is nice to know that if a guy is running a crossing pattern with his head down, there's a pretty good chance now that he might not remember who he is when the play is over.

The Hall hit was awesome -- one of those you could see a step or two before it happened thanks to the camera angle.

And I still haven't decided which was better: Lynch's shot on Hall last night or the lick that Kenoy Kennedy put on Chris Chambers.

As good as those hits were, nothing matches up with the Steve Atwater-Christian Okoye collision on MNF all those years ago - I can still hear it

I understand Feagles is saying that it was an illegal hit. Didn't look that way to me, but then I wasn't the guy getting run over.

Good call on Atwater-Okoye. And that one even had the bonus of the mic on Atwater.

Speaking of the Giants, what was up with Terry Bradshaw's anti-Coughlin rant on FOX NFL Sunday? It seemed really out of nowhere.

A lot of former players are going off on Coughlin lately. Tony Siragusa didn't seem to have a good opinion of the man, and some of the ESPN guys were even questioning his leadership. I guess he fined 4 players for showing up early to a team meeting, but they didn't show up early enough. For more on Bradshaw's comments, there's an article in Newsday: Here (newsday.com)

As a Giants Fan, living in ST Louis, I was horrified when we picked up Warner, I was sure his best days were far behind him. But, to be fair, he didnt look bad. His O line sucks and nobody seemed to understand that brown thing flying through the air can be snagged and ran with. Letting it bounce off of hands/chests/heads/backs/etc was just horrible for Warner and the Giants. Hopefully Shockey will pull his head out of his ass, and catch a few passes next week.

Eli, welcome. Hope they get some O line help for you!

Thank you for your irrelevant opinion.

Never again will I have to bitch and moan about how the greatest punter of all time isn't in the Hall. Nice job. Funny how I'm a Giants fan and Raider hater who nonetheless is more stoked about Guy's election than Michael Strahan's.
