After witnessing probably one of the worst comedies last week with WELCOME TO MOOSEPORT, this week I get to see one of the best comedies of all time, Broken Lizard's Club Dread. This was an awesome movie folks, a great comedy AND horror film. It puts Scary Movie and easily EUROTRASH...oops...I mean EUROTRIP to shame.
There's lots of great female nudity, especially from Jordan Ladd, who gets naked, does NAKED backflips, then proceeds to screw a guy's brains out. No ugly Farva full frontal MALE nudity folks. God bless Kevin Heffernan from refraining from it this time.
Now if you see only one movie this week, God will forgive you if you see Club Dread instead of Jesus. Hopefully my full review of the film will be up on Hybrid by tomorrow. I put a lot into it so if anyone happens to read it I hope you like it. Anyway, support BROKEN LIZARD and hopefully they'll get to make their Greek Mythology film next.

Everything I have read about Club Dread says that the trailers do it no justice. Super Troopers was somewhat the same for me, as the previews made me laugh, but not fall to the floor or anything.
After seeing it, however, we played the "Meow" game until it got obnoxious.
And I've heard that Bill Paxton is brilliant in Club Dread.
Gravity is a contributing factor in nearly 73 percent of all accidents involving falling objects.
Super Troopers was unrelenting hilarity, and if Club Dread is anything like it I expect another 8.50 well spent. Cheesy horror has always been my guilty pleasure anyway, and combined with the guys from Broken Lizard this...should be awesome.

I Super Troopers for the first time on HBO about 2 weeks and thought is was really funny. And it has Marisa Coughlan who is one of my favorites and she is barely in anything it seems like. She only gets cuter after she gets hit with the baseball.

Being the love interest in Tom Green's Freddy Got Fingered didn't really help her career very much. I think she actually filmed both those movies (Super Troopers, FGF) pretty close together.

And it's a shame really, she has kinda had the whole Freddy Got Fingered thing riding on her back. And I don't know if she filmed at the same time because they released about a year or so apart. I have actually sat through FGF just to see her.
I caught it today and while it isn't a bad movie, I just didn't find it that funny at all. Maybe I've just got my mind set on them being as funny as they were in Super Troopers, but this just didn't click for me. However, Jordan Ladd's breasts make me give it a thumbs up. I've heard a second viewing could change my mind, so we'll see.
Now I thought that the comedy was very funny. It is about 7.5 on the funny scale. As a horror movie, it is pretty bad. It only ranks a 2.5 out of 10.
So if you're keeping score at home, it is an average movie made better by some specific scenes (PacMan, Jordan Ladd bedroom scene). It is all together a 5 out of 10.
Oh, and that Jay Chandra-whatever guy directed the movie, and I'm amazed that he gave himself the worst, most unfunny character (Putman). A bit of useless trivia about him is that he also directed the last aired episode of Arrested Development on Fox (a show I love).
I also agree that Putman was the worst, most unfunny character in the movie.
I could'nt get into this one so much, because the slasher overtones took away from the comedy value. However, the comedy was pretty solid, and nudity never hurts. I was super pissed when Yu died, because she never got naked. That's enough geekdom. It's definitly worth seeing.
The movie got a bit long and entrenched in plot, but the bit with the torso at the end made up for it. Funny stuff, but not Super Troopers My biggest complaint: I looked up the soundtrack to Club Dread, only to discover that no Coconut Pete songs are on it. After we left the theatre, my friends and I got drunk and kept singing the last part of "Naughty Cal." La la la la la la la la la la la la la Pass that bong over here!
Perhaps another album is in the works, or maybe they are hidden tracks.
