WWE elected today to end its contractual relationship with Zach Gowen after Zach met with EVP of Talent Relations Jim Ross earlier today. “Zach is only 20 years of age and I would be very surprised if we don’t see him in a WWE ring again some day," Ross said. "We all have great respect for Zach’s passion and wish him nothing but success.”

They should grab him though, he got a lot of face time on WWE TV and maybe some reporter who's bitter at WWE will write an article about how WWE released a one legged cancer survivor.
I don't blame WWE for releasing him, though, because they didn't get the press they were hoping for. The mainstream newspapers probably looked into his "full of holes" life story that he concoted. | mercer

I mean they put Billy and Chuck on good morning america but they dont put the one legged wrestler? Anyhow im not complaining, but there is only so far that one trick pony is going work.

AGREED! Thank you very much for being on my screen Zach but the money could of went to better usage than this short venture. Shesh, it almost feels like a releif that he's gone.

I was *so* hoping they'd do something like that. Have him get "eliminated" something like ten, fifteen times until someone towards the end - Big Show would've worked given this year's lineup - gets the bright idea to get the fake leg and throw that over the ropes too...
You know, for all people say the Invasion was the biggest money angle the WWE dropped the ball on, it still boggles my mind that they had the greatest inspirational underdog story - a kid who LOST A LEG TO CANCER and still managed to make people completely apathetic towards him. That's almost beautifully bad booking.
Oh well, NWA-TNA could find some use for him again, I'm sure.

I disagree. He feuded with Vince, got thrown down the stairs in a wheelchair by Lesnar, he pinned Big Show....really, what more could WWE have done?
Besides, they'd just be rewarding someone with an attitude problem as Zach is said to have had, which would've been a bad idea.

That's such a great idea, it's a shame they never used it.
They really booked the guy wrong from day one. I'm not sure how I would have gone about it, but having him play a one legged Spike Dudley might have been a better idea than having him play the one legged Hillbilly Jim.

Better he had spent most of a year down in OVW to get the knack of what WWE is looking for in their wrestlers and build himself up a bit.
I just think he got thrown into the deep end of primetime television before he was really ready. Blame it WWE, blame it on Zach, but it all comes down to that.

Remeber that awesome year of 2000 that the WWF/E had, until September of that year, with Steve Austin's return? They botched that badly. And I won't go on and on. Bottom line? WWE needs to get its act together, and if they have to shed the load, so be it. It'll be helpful to wrestlers who need opportunity and for WWE.
Anyway, I do hope that Zach Gowan does have other opportunities to excel in his wrestling career after this, but it might be a while before a lot of fans will warm up to him again after this WWE stint.
