Here's the link:

What can I say? 20th Century Fox should just lock this piece of crap up in a vault right now and cut their losses. Bill Murray is funny but he is just NOT Garfield. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Proof of crappiness:

The Trailer opens with Risky Business music. The cat dances. I rest my case.

Actually, now that I think about it, Murray's voice IS kinda similar to that of the late Lorenzo Music, who played Garfield in the TV series.

Didn't Music do the voice of Venkman in the Ghostbusters cartoon as well? If so, that seems a bit ironic.

WTF?? Garfield is an ornary, caffiene-addicted pragmatist with a short fuse and a propensity towards mild violence... NOT A PARTY ANIMAL!!

Hollywood destroys another icon.

Jim Davis is spinning in his grave.....wait....no, this trailer killed Davis, and he's currently spinning.

No, Davis has had almost nothing to do with the Garfield empire for years. He just sits back and collects money from it. All the strips are done by hacks, and Jim Davis gets paid to put his name on it. That's why the strip hasn't been funny for about 8 years. He's loan out the character for almost any endorsement. Garfield's actually been inducted into the merchandising hall of fame.

Seeing this trailer makes me so very thankful and happy that Bill Watterson never let anyone ruin his creations. I can just see the Hollywood version of Calvin and Hobbes with a shitty CGI Hobbes, Calvin played by the kid who was Anakin in Phantom Menace, and the movie being all shitty CGI special effects and horrible Spaceman Spiff space battles. I am praying to all dieties out there that Bill never lets anything like the shit I just saw on this Garfield trailer happen--luckly I know he won't. Sheesh, and I remeber when Garfield used to be good.

I'm telling you...the only way this movie could have been good was if Christopher Walken played John. Tell me that wouldn't be awesome!

Yeah, for real, Watterson has publicly ripped Davis for his whoring out of Garfield's likeness. Thank God we can just sit back and bask in the comic nirvana that C&H was.

And by the way, this movie is going to SUCK. BADLY. Barbwire Mike said it well; Garfield is a surly, jittery, ornery cat. He is the farthest thing from a party animal...this really pisses me off that the movie is even being made. Doesn't Jim Davis have enough money?

Straight up. If I EVER start to get depressed we'll probably never have another new Calvin and Hobbes strip I will remember that trailer and it will all go away.

And this movie will STILL make a ton of money. Total it's summer so I'm gonna take the kids to the theater and drop 'em off movie. I mean, Scooby Doo made a ton of money and that looked terrible to the adult/fan eye as well.

Everything I know about Garfield from the comic pages...

...is NOT the Garfield I saw in that trailer.

I guarentee that I will not want to see that movie, but I bet that my girlfriend's kids will want to.

My wife was a big Garfield fan growing up. I showed her the trailer, and she grinned and said "I am SO there!"

My wife's crap filter has clearly been disengaged. (Then again, look who she married.)

As for Calvin & Hobbes... thank goodness for Watterson's integrity, or someone would've made it as "Problem Child 4: This Time With A Stuffed Tiger."

OK, I'm considering buying an HDTV for the family for Christmas. I have two important questions to ask, before I see a salesman. 1) Is there a big difference between 720 and 1080p? Is it OK to go with 720, if it's the first time I buy one? 2)
