| #1 Posted on 2.2.09 1551.29 | Instant Rating: 8.86 | After a month since the opening of our snappy subsite representing how this fine message board sorta looked, circa exactly seven years ago (The 7), I've reached some conclusions which I share with you RIGHT NOW:
1. The Wrestling board was a total cesspool and impossible to keep up with. I skip a few days and suddenly there's a THOUSAND messages I haven't "read."
2. There really was a lot of "gotta try this out" going on in our first month, when we hit the 10,000 messages mark pretty quickly. (If I try to go back 10K from TODAY, we end up in the middle of September.) On one level, things are a lot easier to deal with today, but on another level, we are maybe a SMIDGE quieter than I'd like to see (most of) us.
3. Back then, it was clear that a lot of people loved the sound of their own voices to the detriment of their ability to listen to everybody else. I think we're a lot better with that today.
4. I really have no idea how I put up with some of the crap that people were churning out back then.
5. I'm sad I haven't found more/better ways to encourage people to reply to their former selves...but I guess after you make ironic responses about the love of Chris Benoit four or five times, it gets kinda old, and THEN what can you do?
6. People were really worried about the nWo coming to the WWF! (Ha!)
7. Ultimately, we've all changed, baby. We're all older. (Actually, it's somewhat encouraging...discouraging?... to see just how many people HAVEN'T changed...even when they think they have.)
There's probably more, but 7 seems like a nice round number so I'll cut myself off here. Anybody have anything to add?

Or is that still true to this day?

I WAS still writing recaps in 2002. I eagerly await reliving the "Good Night" thread (July?) and my eventual "retirement" (end of October).
I think it is no small stretch to say I have been completely forgotten by now. :)

If only Joe Gagne was still doing his podcast.

It's safe to say, BTW, that you are not forgotten at all. Without sucking up, you are one of three people I was ever interested to read who wrote about wrestling. One of the others is also retired and the other mostly is.
I think that's one of the reasons the 7 doesn't much interest me - I have lost a lot of interest in wrestling, at least reading about it. (as noted, you can only read about so much Benoit love before you gag)And right at the moment, the 7 is all wrestling. in my last visit, Guru chased some folks asking about a auto forum on the basis that "this is a wrestling board".
I like The W much better as it is now.
We'll be back right after order has been restored here in the Omni Center.
