It hasn't been used for a long time, and it's not as visually attractive as far as domain names go. And those are just two factors.
EDIT: Funny, I looked up two of my sites, one that I actively work on (and is relatively popular) and am trying to sell right now, and one that I've actually never publicly released because its been under construction since I acquired the name. The popular one is worth about $3,000, the unreleased one is worth about $9,000.

Hammered.com is SO valuable according to that site that I should contact a salesperson.
GreatDomains.com won't list Hammered.com, even though it meets all of their short list criteria (.com, word, no hyphens).
Eh.
If anyone wants to give me a lot of money for Hammered.com send me a PM.

Mine is worth over three grand as well. I'm open to selling. I'd like the money in a bag with a dollar sign on it, please.

This domain name contains 7 or more characters. These names are not valued for there length as much as they are for their lexical context.
(Emphasis added by me)
That's one of my pet peeves. I'm a grammar nerd (who probably misspelled words or used improper syntax in the above post).
EDIT: Saving me from public humiliation, Von Maestro PMs me and points out that I misspelled "mispelled". Thank you all, tip your waitress.

It says that my-last-name.com, which I own, is worth $10,838. My last name is not Smith. It is incredibly uncommon and hard to pronounce, and my most distant relatives who have it are my two first cousins. The only person who has ever expressed interest in it to me is the older of those cousins, who is now quite tech-savvy but was still relegated to AOL with Parental Controls when I first registered it about four years ago. Maybe he'll buy it off me when he's made his first million, but for now, I don't think I'm getting $10,838 for it until he's at least out of junior high.
