Originally when the NWO was coming in to "destroy the WWF", I thought this would be a cool development. But now, they are nothing but your basic heel stable. If your name is not Austin or Rock there is no reason for you to fear them. Wasn't this supposed to be cool? Wasn't this supposed to be a cancer running through the veins of the WWF? That is not the case right now and will not be.

This is similiar to Invasion, an idea that could have been cool. But instead it is being executed very poorly. Hogan-Rock/Hall-Austin are good ideas, but in the meantime, the NWO needs to be attacking Superstars of the WWF. Causing chaos in the back, pitting people aganist each other, recruiting, etc. But none of this is happening. Why spend the money to get these people and not use them correctly? It is sad to see that the Women's Division is probably the best booked part of the WWF right now.

it's not off to a huge amazing fucking start but we're only a couple weeks into it. yeah they were supposed to be a cancer, but you can't have three guys run rough shod over the whole company when you honestly don't know how they'll play.

i like the rock aspect to it and he'll probably have a good match with hogan. hulk is in the fed to end his career (he basically said as much in the solo promo rock interupted) and he'll want to go out the right way. i read somewhere that patterson was going to script the match and, if true, that means good things.

i don't really get the austin part. the net gun thing sounded pretty wack (i don't get smackdown here). i can see the logic in the nwo needing someone to interact with for each show and austin's supposed to be the toughest s.o.b. and all, but there's no sense of urgency or threat there.

they need to hurt austin bad and they need to get more babyfaces running around, interacting with the group. flair hasn't said shit.

this is of course excepting all the intricacies of booking we net fans aren't privy to.

It's just you against the group mind.

Yeah, what IS the deal with Flair? He almost gave up his half of the company to stop the nWo from coming in AND was all chummy with Austin. Now, he's more worried about UT and hasn't said anything about the nWo at all AND doesn't care what Austin is doing.

I'm not ready to give up yet because I don't want to be all pessimistic like 90% of the internet BUT it would be nice to see the nWo interact with Flair and other WWF members also. Not just The Rock and Austin.

Personally I'd like to see Nash and Tajiri or Hall and Hurricane bump into each other backstage.

The "poison" thing was Vince's description of what was going to happen...

When the nWo guys appeared they stated that they were not going to be that way, that they just wanted to work and everyone should be Ok with them... They did not describe themselves as the "poison". They basically came out as a typical heel stable.

Now if the WWF writers think that is the way a "poison" would be, then they are terrible writers. I think they have left this open as a possible rift between Vince and these guys for down the road...

As for Flair, it's not his fault that Undertaker has targeted him. I am sure he would be more than comfortable letting SCSA and Rock handle the nWo.

Yes, but that was supposed to be the NWO lying to us because they are snide jerks. We were supposed to see right through it and realize that they really are here to be a poison. But now it looks like someone, somewhere decided to change the plan. I think if they were still going with their original intention we would have Vince on TV (why was no explanation given as to his disappearance?) and Flair getting the snot kicked out of him by the NWO. I'm sure they had a reason for the change in plans. Maybe they didn't want the NWO to be running the whole show.

They really have become just another heel stable. Proof of that is in Jerry Lawler. He has started to root for the NWO and stick up for them. Before they came back he was as upset about them as the "face" announcers. If the NWO were still supposed to be the "poison" that they were intended then Jerry would be rooting against them because he wouldn't want to see the WWF get destroyed.

This is the only way they can do it and make it work. But the issues people are raising are a part of why it's a bad concept in the first place. Okay, the NWO are sold as "poison" that will kill fan interest and ultimately kill the WWF. But in reality, that is the last thing they want the angle to do, so they have to make them in a standard heel stable. It would have been better to just sell them as a heel stable that would destroy Austin, Rock, and whomever else, and ditch the whole "poison" idea, because the only way to really follow up on that would be to deliberately do things to alienate fans and hurt the ratings--and they're not going to do that.

The problem is that they sold people on the NWO coming in and running wild on the WWF, and we didn't get that. It is a bait and switch. The kind of thing WCW did all the time in the last days. I know I have lost interest in the NWO until the WM18 matches. Maybe they had a plan for the NWO being a total poison, but maybe backstage behavior changed Vince's mind. Either way, this is not what I expected or wanted.

The nWo is not really off to a great start. But that is okay because the nWo has been around for only 3 weeks. When the original nWo debuted, they really didn't do much except beat the holy crap out of WCW wrestlers and spray-paint. It wasn't until the next ppv (I believe it was Hog Wild) where they made an impact. So at Wrestlemania X-8 I believe that's when the nWo will really make a impact. Wrestlemania is supposed to be the end of the current storylines and the beginning of new ones. If things go well, then the nWo will play an important part in the storylines for the next year. Austin vs. McMahon was the same way.

Which is exactly what they're NOT doing now.

Think about it. They've been here three weeks and beaten up two guys. That's pathetic.

Okay, you're right. But, they didn't show that they truly were a force to be reckon with until the next pay-per-view. Which is why that after Wrestlemania, they'll recruit new members, wrestle, and such and such.

Puerto, you are alot more optimistic than I am. I think the WWF proved with Invasion they are more likely to drop the ball than run with it.

I think a big part of the NWO's lack of influence they had during the WCW days is the fact that you can only have Hulk Hogan, champion of liberty and justice, turn heel for the first time once. WCW and Eric Bischoff got it, and now the WWF is simply following their example.

Caring is the first step towards disappointment.

Aries gets the win, but with a no rematch clause and Roode not in BFG I'm not sure what he goes and does next. Samoa Joe is getting the win in the ladder match. They seem reengaged with him, this should be an excellent match.
