Someone from a different thread a while ago put the idea in my head, and now it's become the one match that just might make WM for me if it happened…Benoit vs. The Undertaker. Not because neither guy had anything better to do. Because it has to happen. And it should happen. The promotion for this match could be very sweet….nothing fancy, no bullshit (and no heel turn). Just announce the match, and let it promote itself. Two men who demand respect. Two guys who take no shit and don't back down from anybody. Each guy realizes that he *has* to beat the other (Benoit moreso-he's the underdog obviously). Use all the famous catch-words: respect, desire, determination, passion, etc. The Big Show and A-Train are just two guys off the top of my head that can be used perfectly to build this match up in the ring. They can be used to put over Taker and Benoit as rugged, intense competitors (Benoit especially). And, you know what? When it finally happens, the Benoit/Taker match would probably be damn good too.

Coming off the heels of the Benoit/Angle match, this match could possibly make Benoit a permanent Superstar. It could be Smackdown's "torch-passing" match at WM. Of course, as I type that, I'm picturing Taker tapping out to the Crossface after a long, grueling match, and then Taker shaking and raising Benoit's hand after the match…it could happen.

If they're finally gonna end Takers unbeaten run at WM Benoit would be as good a guy as anyone to do it. Not only does he need a win over a big name to cement him as a permanent main eventer, now's the time to do it judging by the huge reaction he got after losing to Angle.

Course if it did happen UT would more than likely reverse the crossface after being held in it for a minute and a half, perform a zombie sit up after ten german suplexes and then polish the match off with a chokeslam and a last ride for good measure, but I retain some optimism.

I'm pretty sure they're saving his "end the WM streak" for his last match in the WWE.

It would be a BAD thing if that was this March? ;)

This might give them the bad idea of giving Taker the Sid Crossface to use. Besides, Taker doesn't job at Mania. I wonder though it after the match if he'll take off his boots to count to 11?

Well hell, if WWE is going to piss away the huge rub that comes with the Rock's "retirement" match on Bill "Short-Term" Goldberg, then why not have Benoit end the Taker's WM streak?

This is WrestleMania-specific, mind you. On any other show, I'd say that Benoit over Undertaker is a great booking move. But for WM...it should be someone special that gets to retire the Dead Man. I love Benoit, but he's just not the right guy for the job.

Well Mr. Burns had done it.

As cool as it would be to have Benoit end Taker's streak, I'd give it to someone else. Someone who's larger than life. Someone who's a living legend. Someone named Chris Jericho. Think about it. Give him the '99-'01 TripleH push. Have him retire Michaels and then Taker. Put him over big names. If they don't like that, then the man to retire 'Taker almost has to be Kane. It'd make sense.

It'd make sense except that it'd be the only cross-promotional match on the card. And it'd defy logic. I think Benoit is the best candidate, because he has 17 years of experience behind him and probably has another 5 years ahead of him before he hangs them up. A rub from the Taker at Mania would rule and make both men look golden.

The man to "retire" Taker is going to be Brock or it's going to be someone who isn't in the picture yet, but who'll receive the j-o-b in order to elevate him. It shouldn't be Kane... it's a job too big for someone who won't benefit from it.

Of course, with that logic, it'll probably end up being Kevin Nash anyway.

I don't think UT will ever lose at Wrestlemania. He will be the WWE's great dynasty. Basketball had the Celtics, hockey had the Habs, Vince has got the 'Taker.

This is really too excellent a straight line to ignore...but in the interest of good taste, I'll ignore it. ;-)

(Oh, hell, here's a hint: Not his BOOTS.)

I think they SHOULD have an interpromotional match at Wrestlemania between Taker and Kane. But I think it should be a mask vs. career Hell-In-A-Cell match. Unfortunately, I don't think Undertaker will EVER lose a match at Wrestlemania.

I had a different reaction. I tuned it a few minutes before the show like normal, because the theme song always kinda gets me in the mood for the show. I can't really explain it, but I'm just ready to see some chokeslams after hearing that thing.
