Well, earlier this week, the Islanders debuted their new orange third jersey. My opinion: boy do they look bush league! And they haven't exactly seen much success yet after two games.

My question is, other than from a marketing point of view, what's the point of a third jersey? Or did I just answer my own question?

You just answered your own question. It's all about the money, and a third jersey is more merchandise sales.

LOL Are you talking about clothing or the state
I kinda like it when the Leafs break out with their classic jersey but what is with Boston's Winnie the Pooh Jersey, that is so wrong in every way.

I like third jerseys, but only on special occations. For instance, whenever it's the team's __th anniversary, they bust out the jerseys they wore way back when. I mean, it's retro! But it's just crap when they pimp out every jersey they can just because they can make more money... *SIGH*

It can't be any worse than the Flyers new third jersey. It looks like a first grader designed it.

From the infamous Wrestleline SS interview:

DTD: If you were to make changes in WCW, if you were in charge and not Ric Flair, what would they be?

SS: I'd get rid of all the old guys, and push the talent that has waited to get the push. The things they are doing, it's back in the 1980s. It's just bad, man. Flair doesn't even deserve to be on the show. You've got to get rid of all the old guys. Like what Vince did, they started pushing guys. Nobody knew who The Rock was 2 years ago. He made The Rock. Now The Rock just did Saturday Night Live. You've got to start with the young talent, talent people can relate to. Who are we trying to relate to if we've got a 50 year old man out there? Are we trying to relate, so a 50 year people and above will go out and buy a f*cking little toy? That ain't gonna happen. It's a f*cking joke.

Does it remind you of any show in particular?

I think the old Keith Olbermann line from SportsCenter applies when it comes to third jerseys...

3rd jerseys are "all about the benjamin's"....the Rangers had a white 3rd jersey that looked like an old Winnipeg jersey a few years ago - they played like the old jets too when they wore them

If I remember correctly, Pittsburgh's third jerseys aren't too bad. Of course, they could've just scrapped their roadies and made them their new ones, but I'm not sure of that.

The Pens should bring back the late 70's jerseys.

Canucks swap Bertuzzi for Luongo in multiplayer deal I think it's kind of funny that when they finally do trade Bertuzzi they sent him as far away as they possibly could, but that's probably just a coincidence.
