I have been a Florida State fan for almost 15 years now and I cannot understand the magical hold that Miami has over them. Scientists should study this. AGAIN they tore our hearts out. Once again FSU had Miami on the ropes and couldnt put them away. Un-fucking-believable. I cant even think of anything more to say....

Might want to watch out for N.C. State too. Could be another heartbreaker for the Noles.

Miami tried giving you the game today. Miami's punter is one example and when you are out of timeout's with under a minute the Noles were not hustling to the line of scrimmage.

My take.

I will concede that FSU out and out outplayed the Canes this afternoon, save for the first quarter and the last eight minutes of the fourth quarter. Considering FSU was ranked, you'd have thought we'd pull our heads out of our asses a lot sooner. But the Canes' sluggishness, sloppiness, and complete inability to wrap up and tackle hurt them for most of this game. Also, FSU clearly came to play hard today.

While it wasn't the main reason, Miami had a few b.s. calls go against it, too. Say what you want, but I'm still convinced that the second FSU touchdown in the back of the West endzone wasn't a TD - that the receiver landed with both feet out of bounds. ABC could've settled it was a decent camera angle, but they decide to show a replay from about 35 yards away from the endzone - great job, guys. While it had no net effect, that was not an incomplete pass in the fourth quarter, that was a catch-and-fumble recovered by Miami. And don't even get me started on the bullshit phantom unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Miami.

As for FSU's inability to make those last-second field goals against Miami - who knows? I'd say it's something about the East endzone in the Orange Bowl, but Wide Right III in 2000 happened with a kick going toward the West endzone. I'd say it's just something about the Orange Bowl in general, but Wide Right I happened in Tallahassee in 1991. Luck? Quite possibly. But sometimes, it's better to be lucky than good.

(Also, giving up a thirteen point lead in the fourth quarter doesn't do much to help you to win...)

I think Bowden contributed to the loss by being WAY too conservative in the final minute. He had plenty of time, and should have been shooting to make the field goal attempt as much of a chip-shot as possible. Instead, he seemed more concerned about avoiding the turnover, and about leaving any time on the clock for Miami (to the point that he ALMOST ran out of time for his own team). The FSU team was playing so well, I think they could have moved the ball for a short field goal. But that would have been more risky, and Bowden didn't seem willing to take those risks.

I agree with you there ges, I really hate to admit this but it may be time for Bobby to hang em up. Or maybe bring on Terry Bowden as his associate head coach. Im almost positive that Terry is going to take over at FSU when Bobby retires, so I think they should bring him in. At least to help with the offensive play calling. FSU was really hurt by losing the boy-wonder Mark Richt and Chuck Amato in the last few years. Anyway Id be willing to bet that Bowden will coach as long as Paterno and Holtz keep going, but I think bringing on Terry or maybe Brad Scott, the old offensive coordinator would be a good move. Also they could help develop Chris Rix, who is in dire need of some good QB coaching.

I'm batting 0.500 right now, as I was right for both of this Saturday's games, and O-fer on today (last week I split both days). - Saints over the Vikings in what should be a "barn burner". They be on the roll right now, the Saints.
