WWE announced today in a press release that they have formed a new films division that will work to get WWE superstars into films.
Who besides the Rock do you think would make a movie star?
This immediately reminds me of Bischoff's Raw promo last week when he told Shawn that every time you see HHH in a movie, Shawn will be with him.
You don't think they'll push Hunter into movies, do you?
Who do you think could cross over? I'd say Jericho, Angle or Edge. I would have said Stone Cold, but that's out now.

I think this is a really stupid idea. Half of the WWE Superstars can't even act in their backstage skits. Plus I don't really want to see wrestlers starring in movies. That whole concept just bothers me. Seeing how much time the Rock spent out of the ring filming, why would Vince want to do that with his other top names?

Well, theoretically, having wrestlers in movies could draw new fans to Raw, Smackdown and the PPVs. I'm sure somebody out there started watching wrestling after seeing Rock in The Scorpion King...but we'd probably be hard-pressed to find them.

Angle will never be a movie star. I like the guy, but come on. He'd be funny doing something, but I can't name what.

Me, personally, I don't know who would be marketable OTHER than Rock as a movie star. Edge has done movies before (Highlander), but other than him, maybe Christian.

Maybe Michaels, but I can't see Triple H doing well playing a character. Maybe some of the new upcoming babyfaces like Cena and Orton. Althouhg Hardcore Holly did a UPN movie. Who knows? Jericho is a possibility, but he seems kinda' busy (with Fozzy and all) to care.

Plus, another thing is when these guys do movies, most of them would have to "change their look." IE cut their hair. Can you imagine Triple H shaving off his locks? Or any of those other guys, for that matter? I mean it wouldn't happen all the time, but most movies require some kind of grooming, but then again, when they want these guys in movies I guess they'd be casting them based on their look and popularity and not any acting ability.
And I'll be the first to say it, after the many years of classic Vince promos, I'd be THE FIRST, one to shell out my 5.75 if Vince was in a movie. I mean, WHY he doesn't get nominated for a Golden Globe (best sctor in a musical or variety, I guess) I'll never know. Especially after those CLASSIC nWo promos where he was going to all kinds of extremes.

J-Lo and Ja' Rule are the worst singing/rapping duo I've ever seen in my life (my response to the "totally live" performance of that annoying "Ain't it Funny" song at last year's VMA's. The show where everybody goes home happy and the winner's aren't really winners, they're just people randomly selected based upon their pop status).

they may not necessarily want to make them into STARS, it could just be for small parts. like if they need some enforcer/bodygaurd guy in a fight scene, a guy like brock or batista may work. the studios dont have to pay extra fro stunt doubles, and if WWE promotes the apearences, they could get some extra moviegoers from the wrestling audience.

Here's another possibility: would a wrestler who made a successful movie want to return to the ring? Sure, the Rock is back for now, but he'll be filming again soon. After the relative luxury of acting, could the WWE count on anyone to return to a grueling road schedule with any real enthusiasm? I guess we shall see.

I've never seen Bautista talk, but just by his looks I'd be more interested in seeing him in whatever new conan movie as opposed to the rock. He's got a nasty look to him.

I think in some cases, the transition from wrestling to movies is natural and works very well. Keep in mind that these guys works in front of crowds of thousands several times a week. Guys like Booker T, Angle, Jericho, or even guys like Bubba Ray Dudley (who has a natural charisma NOBODY seems to give him enough credit for) and Kevin Nash could easily land decent (obviously not HUGE) roles in Hollywood. And in other cases, you can have guys like Bautista and Brock just stand in the background and look REALLY INTIMIDATING! I think this is a risk worth taking and could make WWE some extra revenue in the long run. And it could be the next step in bringing the fine world of wrestling closer to the mainstream spotlight.

Just so I'm clear, this 'fine world' is the same one where their biggest and dearest tradition is to make two women roll around in a bowl of gravy every Thanksgiving?

I hate to say it, because I like most of these guys, but as an actor, THESE GUYS CAN'T ACT! I mean, come on, you call talkin' about how you're goin' to kick some guys ass actin'? Rock, in Scorpion King as an example. Sure, he wasn't bad. But anybody just laugh when things weren't funny (and to Rock's credit he has taken lessons)? These guys can play parts, don't get me wrong. But, they aren't trained to act. I mean if you notice something sucks when there's a long shot and you can see 20 feet of screen, imagine being close-up, right on their face, with all the subtlety of anyhting they do or flub being caught.

As someone who's done some filmwork, yeah, it ain't exactly the HARDEST thing in the world, but there's a lot of craft that can sometimes go into it. Some guys are naturals. I would say Rock is somewhat of a natural. But other than playing tough guys or deep grating voiced badasses I just don't see it.

Although, I wouldn't mind seeing Kurt Angle in the backgroud of a fight scene or Lord of the Rings 2, or something.

I RESPECT your opinion. Please respect mine. Or feel the wrath of Buddha!

Giving the 7/29 RAW match of Benoit/RVD 4 stars is like Whitney Houston calling Bobby Brown the "King of R&B." The "King of R&B"!? SHIT! Ribs and Barbecue! Rocks and Blunts! That match wasn't no four stars, just like he ain't the "King of R&B"! You ain't that high! Now, I'm not saying you're a crack-head. Just very...Crackish. I can see huge, intimidating guys like Kane, Batista, and Brock playing the heavy in some B- action movie, like Goldberg did in Universal Soldier 2 (a godawful movie, in case you haven't seen it), but even the guys we consider "good on the mic" when it comes to WWE would look REALLY bad next to real actors, even guys like Van Damme and Big Arnie, who in their turn look terrible next to real actors like Christopher Walken and Robert DeNiro.

There's always B-level comedy for guys like Booker T. He'd be good in a spoof of some kind. Anybody remember:

"That's right! You suckas better FIND somewhere to run! 'cause it's me - Booker T - not only am I the Scorpion King, but I'm the five-time WCW Champion - and I got a sword, too! Now can U dig THAT - SUCKAAAAAS"

I'd have to say that Booker T in a movie would be the funniest shit ever(remember him playing the Scorpion King on the BookDust movie review). They should do a Blaxploitation action film with him ala Rudy Ray Moore as Dolemite.

"You better move out of my way n let me pass,
or I'm gonna shove these Hush Puppies straight up your ass!"

I think that was from either the original Dolemite or the Avenging Disco Godfather. Anyways, we know where the Rock got his catchphrase from.

Well, they also have a food fight.

There are a lot of times I'm happy the general public isn't watching wrestling.
