Better to be marred "by injuries" (Emtman) than to be marred by sucking (Russell). Emtman was actually quite good until his ACLs started falling apart.
EDIT: Besides, if you are going to be an idiot and cite 'injuries" as a reason to downgrade a #1 pick, at least pick the right guy. Ki-Jana Carter blew out HIS knee in his first preseason game. At least Emtman got nearly a full season with all his ligaments in tact.

Revenge of the Sith = one thumb up from me. Fuck shit. I want to tittie fuck your ass. -- The Guinness. to Cerebus
How about Courtney Brown, who also failed due to laziness and not injuries? I agree with JayJayDean 100 percent, it's fucking retarded to call someone a bust just because they're injured (or admit steroid use), when there's enough people like Leaf and Russell that actually deserve it.

Emtman was hampered by injuries, which were not his fault.
Russell is hampered by being dreadful and having the emotional maturity of a space hopper. Things which kinda are his fault.
Also, the Colts would have been a better team if Emtman had stayed healthy. The Raiders would've been better off if Russell had spent the last three years injured.

Are you just naming random dumb stuff done by football teams in the past?
Ricky Williams was picked fifth overall and can actually play football. Russell was picked first overall and can't.
That might be one of the poorer trades ever done, but it's not one of the worst draft picks, and guys who rack up near 10,000 yards rushing generally ain't busts.
Russell isn't just poor based on where he was drafted. He has, to date, been one of the worst excuses for a starting quarterback ever seen in the NFL.
He has, without question, been the worst #1 pick in NFL history, and along with Leaf is one of the two worst picks at any draft position ever. The fact that you've only been able to offer up an injured guy and a good football player as "counter arguments", while offering no rationale for the names you put forth, probably means that on some level even you know this is true.
Tightends can be used for more than redzone situation.Just look at the Titans own Frank Wycheck,he's used everywhere and he leads the team in receptions every year. He's the most reliable receiver we have. note: If you couldn't tell i'm a Titans fan.:)
