No one saw this or at least felt compelled to post about it? Surprising.
I saw it as part of a screening of the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy which was helpful for seeing all of the callbacks to the previous two movies (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) and appreciating them. It's a really weird movie in a lot of ways, even moreso than the previous two genre mashups. Not a bad movie by any means, quite good really. But...weird.
Loved it. I was surprised by the unusually serious stakes at the end, both for humanity and the protagonist. Also pretty shocked by Nick Frost's straight man role. Pegg's character was channeling after-work pub & club "social" David Brent in a pretty huge way and it was wonderful.
Just curious: How come everyone's in such a rush to slot great shows in the "sacrificial lamb" spot of competition with the Survivor/CSI/Without a Trace juggernaut? Or perhaps you prefer they all get unnecessarily cancelled too early?
