We started with 65, and the five who forgot to make a pick MAY be the largest contingent of slackers we've had in a year. (I'm too bummed to check. I hate you, Tony Romo.)

With two picks in conflict, we are guaranteed at least one more gone by the time the first Monday game is over. (Nobody picked the Chargers or Raiders.)

I thought about taking Houston over Miami, but I remember the Miami over Houston debacle of a few years ago that knocked nearly everyone out. I also didn't have the stones to take Miami THIS year, so I took the Bears in week one.

I had the Giants as my pick for quite a while, and then went ahead and changed it at the last minute this afternoon. Glad I did. Now I get to live until at least Sunday.

I figured I'd take the Redskins against the Saints. Gotta stand by your team and this game is as much of a toss up as any of them!

Here, because I was interested, are how the percentage of people who picked a given team here compare with the overall percentages on Yahoo, ranked according to the difference between the two percentages. Small sample size makes this kind of pointless, I know, but I was curious anyway.

Baltimore (4.25 difference)- 4/60 - 6.67 percent (2.52)
New York Giants (1.99 difference) - 2/60 - 3.33 percent (1.34)
Minnesota (1.83 difference) - 2/60 - 3.33 percent (1.50)
Houston (1.77 difference) - 19/60 - 31.67 percent (29.9)
Washington (1.62 difference) - 1/60 - 1.67 percent (0.05)
Detroit (0.52 difference) - 16/60 - 26.67 percent (26.15)
Atlanta (0.41 difference) - 1/60 - 1.67 percent (1.26)
Seattle (0.37 difference) - 1/60 - 1.67 percent (1.30)
New England (.24 difference) - 2/60 - 3.33 percent (3.09)
Chicago (-0.19 difference) - 9/60 - 15 percent (16.9)
New Orleans (-1.71 difference) - 1/60 - 1.67 percent (3.38)
Philadelphia(-5.27 difference) - 2/60 - 3.33 percent (8.60)

TEAMS NOBODY HERE PICKED:

Carolina (0.91 percent)
Green Bay (0.50 percent)
San Diego (0.49 percent)
Buffalo (0.38 percent)
New York Jets (0.33 percent)
Oakland (0.22 percent)
Pittsburgh (0.18 percent)
Denver (0.17 percent)
Dallas (0.16 percent)
Jacksonville (0.13 percent)
Arizona (0.11 percent)
San Francisco (0.07 percent)
Kansas City (0.06 percent)
Tampa Bay (0.06 percent)
Indianapolis (0.05 percent)
Cleveland (0.03 percent)
St. Louis (0.03 percent)
Miami (0.02 percent)
Tennessee (0.02 percent)
Cincinnati (0.02 percent)

I followed the CRZ lead and went with the 8-0 defending Super Bowl Champs starting the season.

It was fun while it lasted.

I can't believe I am the only one on the Saints. If things break correctly, I could win after week 1 since I don't think anybody has opposite sides of any game besides the NO/Wash game.

I don't think I'd ever pick Houston week 1 after killing me two years in a row in their first 2 seasons.

I feel like this choice came upon me pretty quickly so I just went with Chicago only because a lot of other people were choosing them. I really have no idea who's good and who's bad right now.

Of course, if things break another way, you could be out after just one week. :)

Now I remember why I still don't really believe in Detroit. Well, at least I didn't get burned picking the Saints: what a letdown they were.

It would have no impact on the seeding at this point, but San Diego is 4-1, only loss at Baltimore, not 3-2.
