Finally saw this stuff at Target on Saturday and felt obligated to pick up a 20 oz. It was....enh.

Basically, it tasted like orange flavored snowball syrup/flavoring with a hint of caffeine. It tasted thick, even though it was no thicker than any other soda on the market. It just wasn't anything like I was expecting it to be.

This is certainly not the home run that Code Red was for Pepsico. For Orange flavored soda, I'll stick with Sunkist.

This is simply a reminder of the fantastic hypocrisy of many in Hollywood. They conflate robust criticism with censorship; they equate popular boycotts with government blacklists; they claim to be persecuted, while actually they have an amazing capacity to reach audiences other political activists can only dream of. And yet, when the slightest criticism directly affects them, they do all they can to shut dissent down. Instructive, isn't it? Industry honchoes who wouldn't have jobs without the right to free expression are only too eager to squash it when that speech dares to criticize them- Andrew Sullivan

I disagree...somewhat. Taste-wise, it's not drastically different from your average orange soda. However, I usually pass on orange soda beacuse of its weird chemical aftertaste. Livewire didn't have that for me. I find it to be more refreshing than run-of-the-mill orange soda. (It almost has a Gatorade-like taste.)It's no more thick than regular Mt. Dew. Having caffeine doesn't hurt, either.

The whole "Summer 2003 only" shtick is really stupid, though.

All in all, not too bad, but Sprite Remix is the better of the two sodas discussed in that earlier soda thread.

I'm trying to figure out why I can get Livewire at $.69 per 2 liter bottle, or $1.19 per 20 oz. I actually have to pay $.50 just to get 47.6 oz less...

It's pretty good. I'd drink more of it if it came in a diet variety.

Infedels!

Livewire > you

I love it so much I bought 2 2-liters (at $.89 each) and drank them both over a 36 hour period. It's not thick at all to me, original Mt. Dew is thicker. The flavor is essentially orange soda, plus a slight taste of strawberry.

Livewire > Code Red > Original Dew

And at my local grocery store, a 20oz is $.79, and a 2-liter is (again) $.89, so do some checking around for the lower price.

I've been enjoying it greatly...our local Sentry has been selling it 2/$1. Good stuff.

It reminds me of Orange Crush...with caffeine.

Combine it with vanilla ice cream, and you've got a caffinated Dream-sicle!

Carryability. You don't lug around a 2-Liter when you go out, you carry around a 20 oz.

You pay .50 extra for convenience.

Pretty bad. I was hoping for a Sunkist crossed with MD combo, and instead I got what tasted like a flat pop with no real standout taste or bite to it at all. I appreciate companies trying to take a chance on something different, but this just didn't do it for me.

On a weird-flavor but not pop related note, a while back, Burger King had what they called a "Love Shake", the flavor of which was described as "chocolate covered cherries" and it was surprisingly accurate. Anybody get a chance to sample this? I think it'd make a great soda flavor. Cherry Coke just doesn't work for me anymore and I can't stand Pepsi.

For me, it's real Cherry Coke (as in restaurant adds cherry flavoring to Coke, not pre-mixed) or if not, Cherry Pepsi. The bottled Cherry Coke just tastes weird.

I've had a couple Livewires, but it doesn't measure up to Sunkist to me.

I think I'll stick with Code Red as my caffeine of choice.

Isn't that Hi-C? Or am I thinking of a different chain?

For the curious, the store I work at sells very little Livewire at the moment. However, Sprite Remix is being sold at an alarming rate. We are barely able to keep up with demand.

McDonald's watered-down Hi-C orange drink is *good*, though.

WIENER OF THE DAY! July 6, 2002!

Fear can sometimes be a useful emotion. For instance, let's say you're an astronaut on the moon and you fear that your partner has been turned into Dracula. The next time he goes out for the moon pieces, wham!, you just slam the door behind him and blast off. He might call you on the radio and say he's not Dracula, but you just say, "Think again, bat man."
