I'm so ashamed of you people to have not had a post on this yet and it's almost been a week. Hell, the next episode is on tomorrow, you know.
Anyways, I just watched this one, and I gotta say, they just keep topping themselves this season. It seems like every episode has been better then the last and they just keep getting better and better. This is one you're gonna have to watch three or four times to really catch all the details they've thrown in.
This episode is a perfect example of what drew me into the series in the first place. Sure there were things happening in the present, but seeing the back story really gives the series depth and makes it feel like it's been going on for years instead of just three ,too short, seasons.
So Brocks' 'mission' isn't actually to protect the Ventures, it's to keep Rusty from using the 'ORB'. Interesting. He has a flower garden... more interesting! Brock being 'thisclose' to killing Rusty... HOLY FUCK! I wonder if he would have gone through with it? What about the boys? Would he have had to take them out as well?
Brock accidently quitting OSI also brings up a common theme I'm seeing with this season. It's showing everyones 'idiot side.' and that in the regular world, these people would all be losers and failures in thier respective fields. I'm not even just thinking about the main group of characters either. If Dr. Orpheus did his astral projecting in front of just anyone, he'd be dead already, and not just toilet papered (Which was hilarious!).
Another thing that keeps creeping into to overall story arc is Death. Almost every episode had someone talking about it, or someone actually dying, but I fear it's leading up to something big, like perhaps a main character getting killed. Brock seems like the likely one, thanks to his car, but He's a big selling point of the show, so probably not. We'll see pretty soon though, cause there's only two episodes left. They're already working on season four, so YEA!
Did Kano kill Jonas Sr.? I don't know, he didn't really answer the question, did he. That's another thing. All the signs pointing towards a death could be a swerve and give us a 'return' with Jonas popping up. Just a thought.
It was kinda sweet to see Rusty NOT use the ORB because his dad didn't use it (supposedly.) It almost makes us think that Rusty isn't the total bastard he seems to be. There just might be hope for him yet. Billy QuizBoy making him do the Team Venture hands was also cute
Oh man! Pete White had the best line with "What? Did you discover porn?".
Yeah, there was just a ton of information in this episode. Not the funniest episode of the season, but seeing the original members of the guild more than made up for that. My personal favorite part of the episode? Rusty getting back into the swing of boy adventuring.
Yeah, was a pretty good episode. It's been a great season, and it's funny looking back at all the complaints about how there wasn't any story arc and the episodes weren't all that. I don't get it, the series has been awesome all season.
And part one of The Family That Slays Together is incredibly awesometastic. Make sure you head to the Adult Swim website to watch the bonus scene before the episode. The Monarch rules...
Decent show last night. Some stinkers, as is to be expected, but the send-offs to Fred Armisen and Bill Hader were great. Stefon's wedding had everything: puppets in disguise, Mennorah the Explorer, Anderson Cooper, Churfs, and human traffic cones.
