Well, my beloved Jays are off to their usual craptacular start. 2-5...yeesh. The hitting has been there, but the pitching outside of Roy Halladay has been terrible. This team needs a major revamp, STAT.
I was born in a manger, like that other guy. You know, he wore a hat?
You'll get one. Ricciardi has already planted some seeds named Eric Hinske and Felipe Lopez, and as soon as he deals Mondesi for young pitching (which will happen, oh yes it will), the Jays will really be in line to be the No. 1 challenger to the Yankees in the AL East in about...two-three years.
Also I wish you knew true pain, to be a fan of a team that's not just average but terrible.
Mondesi has never gotten better than he was his rookie season, sadly. He probably should be better than he is, but he's just not and it looks as though he won't be. The short-term get-back for Mondesi won't be much to get excited about, but they could deal him to a contender that could use a corner outfielder for some young pitching. The hope, I guess, is that Halladay is really together and will be the Ace Of The Future, with Carpenter finally getting HIS act together at least enough to be a No. 3 if Brian Cooper can pan out to a No. 2.
And I don't like the Tigers, I like the Orioles, so it's even worse. I guess I LIKE the Tigers, but you get what I'm saying. I am an Orioles fan.
Considering the track record the Yankees have had the past few years on pitchers moving from the N.L. to the A.L., this move doesn't do much, unless they put Chacon in the bullpen to help shorten the game.
