For a sweepstakes trivia question on WWF.com, they had a question that is easily the stupidest wrestling question I've ever heard. It went a little something like this:

“What is the only way to win a submission match?”

-Pinfall
-Submission
-Knockout
-DQ
-Countout
-Stripping your opponent to her bra and panties

I was so insulted I didn't even bother answering the question.

Were they trying to be cute, or has wrestling devolved to a point where the concept of a “submission match” is that hard to comprehend?

I pray the former. Still stupid as all hell, though.

And that, as they say, is that.

Funny, you'd THINK the only way to win was obvious... However, don't forget Austin vs. Hart, and in a far more embarrassing case, Sid vs. Goldberg.

Technically, you could win a submission match via knockout, as an unconcious opponent could be declared "unable to continue" by a referee, which counts as a submission.

Yeah, but seeing as how they only give you the opportunity to pick one answer, it seems to me the answer should be obvious.

Of course, that's just me. For all I know, 90% of the people to answer picked “Stripping your opponent to her bra and panties.”

Or maybe not. Who knows?

And that, as they say, is that.

They should force their own wrestlers (ahem...Trish Stratus comes to mind lately) who go for pinfalls in table matches, bra-n-panties matches, and other non-pinfall matches.

Bra-n-panties...I feel so dirty for typing that. But in a good way.

Heh heh, yeah. And then there was that one time when Randy Savage tried to pin Yokozuna in the Royal Rumble.

that was a stupid question, almost as stupid as when super bowl MVP Doug Williams was asked:

"How long have you been a black QB?"
