Hey, I thought some of tonight's annual Halloween episode was actually funny! I don't remember the last Treehouse of Horror I could say that about.
I liked the Paranormal Activity spoof and the time lapses, especially when Marge was a zombie.
"Three way?" "You, me, and Marge?" "You and two demons."
The Back to the Future parody was also pretty good. Callbacks to season 2 "The Way We Was"! Artie Ziff marries Marge in the future! Teenage Homer meets today's Homer. The montage of James Bond posters to illustrate Bart traveling from Skyfall to The Spy Who Loved Me. "And now to enjoy a time when people weren't mad at George Lucas!"
@CMPunk
“@ZackRyder: @CMPunk She played me bro” I got your back.
I thought the Back To The Future bit had a lot of laughs. The other segments didn't do it for me, but maybe I would have liked the Paranormal Activity one more if my knowledge of it extended beyond "oh, right, they aren't doing The Blair Witch Project, there was another movie like that more recently.
The black hole one had two good moments: Homer noting that his pennant applies in both situations, and Maggie's solution. Ah, that's better than some recent Treehouse segments. B^)
Hey, they remembered that Marge and Homer met in the 70's and decided to pretend that godawful 90's episode never happened! I can dig that!
And yes, this was one of the funnier Treehouses in recent memory. I'm a sucker for random Simpsons chaos, like with the black hole and the Paranormal Activity spoof was pretty good.
Any excuse to bring back Artie Ziff is ok with me. I can never get enough Jon Lovitz.
Artie: You're just like Indiana Jones, son! A role played by Richard Dreyfuss in OUR universe!
Eh, it is what it is with Ian McShane. If he can't do more or won't do more, then at least give him a great one-off, which is what this was. It was a very effective reintroduction to The Hound and McShane put over his return well.
