The fact that the Rumble and WM's main event are intricately connected is the one thing making this problem awful sticky for the WWE. I humbly step forward with my version of a solution.

the way i see it, only one brand should participate in the Rumble due to the ensueing confusion this would create if they both did. i realise this would involve almost the entire roster from one of the two brands so making it a twenty man rumble should fix that, while also making it more compressed and entertaining.

For all intents and purposes i'll use the Raw brand for the Rumble. This allows for a few things. firstly it allows Raw to bring back Rhyno, SCSA, Kanyon (?), and Nash in one hit. it also allows smackdown to control slightly more of the rest of the show and put on (hopefully) 2 cruiserweight matches, a tag match with los excellentos & whoever they drag a good match out of, edge or benoit plus a friend can have a match each and finally a WWE title match with King Kurt.

The way the Rumble would have to work then is either RVD, Booker T or SCSA would win it and face either Steiner or HHH. the master plan in all this is that after Booker T wins the Rumble (cause this is how it would work really well) he'll face Steiner at WM. this match coupled with Lesnar/Angle as the triple main events along with the possible super showdown with Goldberg/insert superstar here would make me shell out lotsa cash, let alone the $30 they're asking.

Also it makes the Raw World Title seem that much more prestigious and on an even playing field with the WWE title.

And to follow up on this, Steph makes the coup of getting the King of the Ring exclusive to Smackdown, giving us a month of brilliant mano en mano matches that culminate in the WWE title being defended against the winner of the KOTR at Summerslam ala Brock//Rock. (and we all know how much SS rocked this year with this extended build up so i'm banking on that not being a fluke.

that's my master plan people, take it, leave it, add to it, change a detail to your liking, do wat you want with it. feedback is essential when cooking a recipe for success

Idea sounds great... minus Nash and Austin. Especially Austin.

Nice idea, as long as the WWE title is the main event. The idea of a Rumble to see who fights for the ol' WCW belt in the main event of WrestleMania is a SEVERE problem for me.

i can't remember them ever using the Rumble Match as the main event anyway, at least not in recent years, so i don't think you have anything to worry about.

There is no longer a WCW and there is no such thing as a WCW belt.

Get over it already.

Salami who cares. he refered to it as wcw belt but you know what he means. so you get fuckin over it. he made a simple comment. i for one dont see the big gold belt being defended in main event of WM unless its a unification.

I think it's a good idea without the Booker/Steiner match.

I think it's neat to give a nod to history and to ressurect old feuds and whatnot (I personally was a big fan of that last 2 weeks in WCW), but the long-term storylines and feuds that the WWE - and most other fans - care about are exactly 2.

The HHH/Steph marriage is one (with all the peripheral players, the crush on Angle, the former engagement to Test). Austin vs. McMahon is the other. You cannot count on the WWE to give more than a "these two have some history together King" nod to any other issues from more than a month ago. If Undertaker and Kane had a match next week, I doubt the word "brothers" would even be mentioned.

Hey thanks, you took the words right out of my mouth! Salami's always had a problem with me though, that's the reason why he kind of flipped on my comment, so don't worry.

I know it would be difficult to figure out how to do the Royal Rumble but I still think they should do one with both brands. I mean look at how much good competition you have if you have both brands.

Jericho
Booker
RVD
Goldust
Lance
Christian
Rhyno
Test
HBK?
SCSA?
Stevie
Dreamer
Raven
D-Lo
Harvard Chris
Hurricane
Batista

AND
Lesnar or Angle (whichever one isn't champion)
Benoit
Eddie
Edge
Mysterio? (don't know how long he's injured)
Kanyon
Chavo
Mattitude
Noble
Little Guido
The Rock?
Cena

That's 29 guys without anybody in my opinion who is a complete bum. Now sure, they probably wouldn't use this exact list because they'd have to fit Kane, Big Show, A-Train and maybe UT and Nash in there. But still a Royal Rumble with the entire roster would probably have the most competition in Royal Rumble history.

I dunno. After they introduced the belt on Raw, Confidential had a story on the history of the belt, where they brought up all the old NWA/WCW stuff. So WWE seems to be recognizing that continuity.

I could be wrong, but wasn't the 2002 Royal Rumble the main event? I swear they ended the show with Triple H raising his arms in victory.

Why do I watch? Because every episode has the potential to be the best one ever, and I'll be DAMNED if I'm gonna miss that one after sitting through this shit.

I personally enjoy the idea of having 15 guys from each show, and the winner goes on to face the champion from his show at Wrestlemania in the main event. The 2 runner-ups from the other show would fight each other for the right to go to Wrestlemania as well, so there's at least some reward built in for the people who last the longest.

I'd like to see Brock go over in the Rumble, perhaps by tossing out someone like Austin or Rock? If Austin is on Raw, this would be great, because then you could build towards a Brock/Austin match much later down the line and teasing it now would only help.

The way I see it, WWE's belt holds the same history as the WCW Title, which held the same history as the NWA Title... but, WWE's belt is not the WCW World Title, just in the same way that WCW's title was not the NWA Title.

WWE's title is a branch off from the WCW World Title, but unless WWE starts actually calling it the WCW Title again, it's an entirely new title that has branched off from the same lineage.

Sorry, had a busy weekend. Just got to watch the show, so here's a quick 'n dirty. Miz TV open. Kofi vs. Miz was signed for Hell in a Cell in an IC Title rematch. The WWE Tag Team Champions were his guests, and they took turns arguing with Miz.
