Hey, I'm as big a Leafs fan as there is, and yet I'm fervently hoping that the Sens win the Cup. Better a Canadian team than one of the insta-franchises or the Devils again.

I just have to say...the writers of 24 appear to be booking programs for the Minnesota Wild. They escape death about as often (and about as improbably) as Jack Bauer! B^)
I'm a Toronto fan, and none of the remaining teams matter that much to me. However, despite my Ottawa bias, it would be nice to see the Senators win solely for Roger Nielsen, who looks very fragile these days. I wonder if he'll be around next season.
Also, if the Ducks won, that'd be cool because my Dad's a buddy of Steve Thomas, and that would mean I might get to see the Stanley Cup live and in person(and not just at the Hall of Fame).
Hey I'm not haterizing On the Sens, I picked them to win the second round, which I went 3 and 1 for the second round, making my overall record for the playoffs 7 for 5.
I would like them to win, even if winning the Stanley Cup some CIBC bank creditors would be the one taking the cup and using it as collateral
But saying that I like the Sens, but I just think Brodeur is the best money goalie in the NHL and the huge Devil D will shut down the Sens offense.
Speaking of huge and goalies. What's the deal with Giguere gear. He's huge, looks like a athletic Mark Henry. I know goalies these days are stepping up with the padding but I've seen couch mattresses with less padding then Giguere.
cause there's limits to our liberties. 'Least I hope and pray that there are, cause those liberal freaks go too far.
I'll crush all opposition to me And I'll make Ted Kennedy pay If he fights back, I'll say that he's gay
Giguere isn't huge. He plays big. His equipment is the same size as Brodeur and everyone else. It's regulated and constantly checked. He knows how to make himself as big as possible in the net. It's the mark of a great goaltender when he can make himself appear bigger to the shooter then he actually is.
Giguere got ANOTHER shutout tonight...yikes. At this point I might actually have to consider Anaheim as the favourites to win the Stanley Cup. And even without using the Flying V.

With the way they play, is there any reason to say they do not have a good chance to win the cup? They beat the two best teams in the conference, without any apparant trouble, managed to almost completely halt the highest scoring offense in the league, outplay the two best defensive teams in the West, and so on and so on.
Giguerre could bring them the cup. If guys like Kariya, Oatea, Leclerc, etc bring in that little bit of (extra) offense required they might very well find themselves ingraved on the holy grail
When the Wild take the ice on Friday night, they'd better bring a bazooka. Even then, Giguere might deflect the shell into the third row. Somewhere in the Anaheim locker room, the Shutout Monkey is hard at work.
Of course, Brodeur and Lalime are no slouches in net, either. Can the Ducks score on either reliably in the finals?

Game 6 for Devils is huge. They are undefeated on home ice but they better stay that way or Ottawa comes home to a deafening crowd. Game 6 Wednesday. It should be great.
Brodeur got served with his wife's Divorce papers last night after the game - should be interesting to see if this distraction has any effect on him. The story of his affair with his sister-in-law may have broken a month ago but the NY media is just starting to get a hint of it now.
I hate the devils so - Go Sens Go !!!
5 Time 5 Time 5 Time 5 Time 5 Time Wiener of the Day Runner-up
The Devils should win game 6 - I'd be completely surprised if they don't. After all, the Game 5 win was Ottawa's first ever in elimination games. As much as I would love it if the Sens win (the Ducks match them up great), I don't think it'll happen. Stranger things have, though.
I'd much prefer the Senators vs. the Ducks in the finals, but I just don't see it happening. Despite Brodeur's personal issues, New Jersey's brand of hockey is too tight, and Burns will have an adapted gameplan going into tonight, I'm sure.
That said, NJ/Anaheim in the finals could potentially be the most low-scoring final in the history of Stanley Cup finals. And though I might love the tension of super-low-scoring, next-goal-probably-wins hockey, it just doesn't bring the ratings.
Well, the Sens have forced a game seven with a gutsy overtime win tonight. As we all know, anything can happen in a seventh game and the Sens are riding a huge wave of momentum. I'm calling an Ottawa victory, 3-2, with Daniel Alfredsson finally getting the offence going to score the winner late in the third.
I bet the Ducks are sitting back just loving to see these two teams kill each other.
Go Sens!

Ottawa was totally playing with fire for most of that overtime last night. Lalime was forced to prove his mettle on a couple of different occasions.
Ottawa has to stop trying to carry the puck over the offensive blueline. The winning goal came off an Ottawa rush after NJ over-committed, but before that Ottawa kept trying to get fancy at NJ's blueline and they gave up 6 or 7 even-odds and man-up rushes. If Elias were the player he was 5 years ago (or if Stevens were a real scorer) Ottawa would be done right now. It's funny watching guys who are tired play right into the trap even though they know better.
An Ottawa that's won a seven game series with NJ would be a beautiful opponent for Anaheim. Go Sens!
Sens are one step closer to advancing. Who would have thought that after they were down 3-1.

Cow - You must be completely surprised this morning....
That said, who saw the stat before OT began about Brodeur's OT record ? It now stands at 8 wins and 16 losses - if you are a Sens fan you have to be pulling for OT tomorrow night
and for you devils fans out there, here is a little reminder of what can happen in a Game 7 on the road after letting Game 6 slip away......

Something like that, yeah. I do distinctly recall jumping off the couch when it happened, though. That game was fun... but one too many heart attacks for my liking.
Ottawa's dodged a bullet twice now. However, it was pretty funny when Thorne and Clement were talking about Brodeur's overtime record, and the only thing they could say was "Well, he's got experience."
Considering that I'm pulling for the Ducks to win the Cup, I'm just happy there's a Game 7. However, if Ottawa wins Game 7 (which they just very well might do, given the momentum - and the unpredictability), they've got a HUGE karma edge going in, even if they are going to be fatigued. 'Course, either team's going to be tired...

Huge karma didnt really help the Wild last round did it? The most important thing will be how are the Ducks going to play after their ten day rest. Not how tired will Ottawa/Jersey be (these guys are used to playing a game every 2-3 days after all) ..
