Did you ask your wife if she would say the same thing about a man running for president shortly after his child was born?
Honestly? She wouldn't, and the reason has everything to do with being a mother vs. being a father. How's that for old-school "Republican" family values?
Isn't it imperative that both a father figure and mother figure be present in a child's youth - hence the discriminating against gays to deny them adoptions? If so, why would a mother figure being busy being vice president be more dangerous than a father figure being busy being vice president? | wmatistic

I absolutely agree with you that a father is important to raising a kid in a traditional family unit. I try to take as active a role as possible in raising my kids. I am not talking about gay marraiges and refuse to since I have no solid information either way on the topic.
Now, find a mother who dotes on her children and see how willing she is to voluntarily separate herself from her children for long periods of time. It drives my wife nuts when she's separated from her little kids - after a couple hours she's wondering how they're doing, that they're okay. She always thanks me for being her being able to stay home and raise our children, to give them the love and care they need instead of having some babysitter or daycare raise them.
Basically, I'm not talking about right or wrong, I'm talking about a mother's reaction based off of her maternal instinct. I thought it might be an interesting viewpoint is all.
