Mike Price got shitcanned from Alabama with a record of .500 (0-0) for being a bad, bad boy. Click Here (espn.go.com)

Are we a sexually screwed up country or what?

It's kind of a shame, really. I wanted him to stay...

...so I could rail on him when we played 'Bama. (On a side note, I went to a baseball game last night, we were playing 'Bama then, too. There were some hecklers that were just going to town on the whole team for that.. it was much fun.)

Now, what important lesson does Mike Price teach us: Always sign your contract. When you have a position for over 5 months, you should already have your contract signed. Thus, when an incident like this happens, its less likely you'll get fired, because then the university will hav to pay a significant buy-out. But, without the signed contract, the university pays nothing.

I hate Swamprats. Payback for the Celts against the team led by a wifebeater/child abuser (he did break his kids collarbone in public). And 12 wins until Banner #17.

I am not so sure. The contract had a clause that said he could be fired for any behavior "that brings (the) employee into public disrepute, contempt, scandal, or ridicule or that reflects unfavorably upon the reputation or the high moral or ethical standards of the University." This act would seem to have qualified.

But I do think that not signing the contract was a factor. Exactly what was he waiting for? I think other factors come into play, too. He was on official business (I assume he was playing the golf tournament as "head coach of Alabama") They specifically asked him to behave BEFORE this trip, and he ignored their request. They know how much money he spent, which leads me to believe that he was running this up on the University's tab instead of his own; that can always get you in big trouble. You have to wonder if the woman in his room was a prostitute.

So I think adding all this up, plus the effect that this would have in recruiting, led to this decision. Hey, Auburn is making fun of them, UT is making fun of them, and you just can't have that at Alabama.

Seriously, he got fired for spending 200 bucks at a strip club? I'd have been fired a LONG time ago.

Ah, the Bible Belt. Where people are quick to condemn, but slow to forgive.

I think the woman charging $1,000 of room service to his hotel bill had a lot to do with it also.

Man, it sounds like he had a great night.

Good point. But the question is, was it that hotel bill on 'Bama's tab or Price's? Because if it's the latter, I still think it falls under the "stupid but personal" category.

That's what I've been wondering, how does everyone know how much money the guy spent in the strip club and room service if it wasn't on the University's tab? Can I just walk up to these places and just ask? Heck, do strip clubs even ask you your name? Did the press follow the guy around?

That said, in the rumor mill, people are saying that there is a LOT more to this than what is being reported. The university is supposedly just trying to nip this in the bud before the other stuff can come out and embarass them further. Of course the thing about rumors is that they tend to be wrong, so who knows?

But if they are going to push the whole idea that coaches are role models, then they have to be expected to be held to a higher standard. They do get compensated quite well to do so. So maybe the strip club and hotel bill tab is all there is to it (of course, why would anybody care what the hotel bill tab was if it wasn't on the university's tab?)

I've gotta think it was on Price's tab. After all, how could he charge a company or an insitution he's not working for and have it remain legal? That's like me making Microsoft buy my groceries.

Actually, since record is wins/games (0/0), his % is undefined.

that reminds me of an anal calc prof i had back in 95. she looked and sounded just like Judge Judy. (never mention "straight lines"...she would go off on how, by defination, all lines are straight, so it's redundant)

though she is techinally right, she's argue the fact that 1/0 is infinity and not undefined and it would just get her panties in a wad if you called it undefined....no wonder 3/4ths of the class had dropped by midterms...

edit: just thinking of her is making me mad....she would go into these proofs because someone called her on it...1/.1 = 10, 1/.01 = 100, therefore 1/0 = infinity....

I dont think it had as much to do with spending a lot on strippers I think it has more to do with embarassing the school. First off you are made fun of all over the country and the school is basically humiliated because of that. Also, this does as rikidozan mentioned, hurt recruiting. Mr. and Mrs. Smith are not going to send Johnny to a school where the coach has shown that he probably isnt the best person to take care of and teach their son for the next 4 or so years. Alabama is a school that is trying to clean up its image (they are on probation now as well for past coach screw ups) so I think they had to let him go.

So I pranked him...to death.....with a tire iron!

The $1000 was charged as incedentals on the hotel room tab, a bill that was on the School's credit card, thats why he got caught.
I could understand, if some old guy got taken by a young beautiful woman, but

Shit dude, I know places where you'd be lucky to get a sandwich and a soda for that.

I mean really, if you're gonna get fired at least stick a couple zero's (zeroes?) on that tab and go out in style ;)

LOL! Sounds horrible. Although it makes sense from a Calculus definition (i.e. how a limit is calculated). I wonder about 0/0 though. Using that logic, you'd say 0/1 = 0, 0/.1 = 0, 0/.01 = 0, etc. I love thinking about pointless things.

But then, I'd wager that 90% of all math teachers are crazy. Some less crazy than others, but still, you get the feeling that there's something "not quite right" about them.

That's exactly why X/0 is undefined. While you can make the infinity case (which I thought was correct) then you've broken the rules when you try 0/0. Because if 0/0 is not undefined, then it should equal 1.

Most people like math to make sense, and thus decide that 0/0 is undefined (currently anyway).

Richardson isn't Edge, but look at it this way: You have both the 1st and 3rd overall picks from last year's draft. The Colts, as a franchise, are secure for the future and just need to worry about bolstering that offensive line.
