It wasn't "cancel after two episodes" bad, but....well, that may be the nicest thing I can say about it. :)

Paul Reiser's new TV show canceled after two episodes

By Lesley Goldberg – Sat Apr 23, 12:18 am ET

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – NBC has pulled "The Paul Reiser Show" off the air after just two episodes.

The comedy premiered last week to 3.3 million viewers in the coveted 18-49 year old demographic, ranking as the network's lowest-rated in-season comedy beginning ever.

Its second episode didn't fare any better, collecting 2.5 million viewers in 18-49 demographic.

Paul Reiser said during NBCUniversal's summer press day last week that the network rushed the show to air.

"This was shortest ramp up in the history of television. Literally 20 days ago (NBC) said, 'We're putting you up,' and we said, 'OK, great,' " he told The Hollywood Reporter.

Repeats of "The Office" will take over beginning next week.

I think the guy who forwarded this news on from Twitter summed up my feelings on the show:

Oh, I think it was. Missed the first episode, but I watched the second and thought it was really bad. Shame--I always liked him, and I'd be happy to see him find something better to star in.

I don't think they thought this show through at all. The first was sorta "eh" but the second blew.
It also didn't help that Paul looked and acted a whole lot more "Jewish" in this than he did in Mad About You. He's just not what the target demographic would want to watch.

I caught the first episode, thought I'd give it at least one more shot but forgot to DVR the second episode. I wasn't all that upset about it, and I can't say this cancellation surprises me that much. "G-rated Curb" is a pretty good way to describe it, even if Larry David DIDN'T guest star in the pilot. Now my only concern is whether Jimmy Fallon will still feel comfortable making Paul Reiser jokes.

It's a good thing NBC has never had any success with a Thursday night comedy about the daily events in the life of a Jewish comedian, or that statement might have come off poorly.

I didn't mean simply because he's Jewish. It's that he was "stereotype north eastern Jew" with the constant hand gestures and facial expressions.

That's all I meant by the comment.

I admit I never watched the show but I hate when networks cancel things like this. Instead of getting behind something and letting it build and audience they just give up on it and (most likely) put on some stupid reality show.

And what's the deal with the north eastern Jewish hand gestures?

Apparently I am related to John Vernon in some capacity... Grandpa's cousin or something. Maybe my parents told me that so they could justify my watching "Ernest Goes to Camp" over and over.
