If it's mid-October, I gotta start a thread about the start of college basketball season and "midnight" madness around the country.
As usual, I care only about Lexington, KY. Coach Cal welcomes 4 McDonald's All-Americans - Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Marquis Teague, and Kyle Wiltjer to the family to join sophomores Doron Lamb and Terence Jones along with senior Darius Miller to form a long, athletic, and versatile 7-man rotation. The 'Cats will hope to see improvement from soph Stacey Poole and senior Eloy Vargas. Junior transfer Twany Beckham will get some minutes due to necessity once he's eligible after the fall semester ends.
The 'Cats will block a lot of shots, score a lot of points, and be very up and down. By the end of the year, they'll be very, very good.
So - what's the expectation for your favorite team? I imagine UNC fans are giddy.
After watching Kentucky's Big Blue Madness I'm very impressed with this freshman class. Davis is going to be a beast. Jones looks like he's gained some muscle. Miller looks like he's improved his shot. If they don't make it to at least the Final Four again, I will be disappointed.
In the first two rounds (and maybe the next round), there's a "host school" for each subregion.
But, doesn't it seem weird that since these are "neutral site games," they're playing on a court with another team's logo.
