I was really hoping to see Holly in this one, but alas, just the boyfriend. But there is hope as we know from Pam: It's not over.

I found this episode pretty ho-hum. I'm not finding the Jim/Dwight party planners funny at all. Not even Meredith's self-depreicating comments are surprising.

And yes, Angela, the webcam was on the entire time because YOU left it on.

The only saving grace for the Angela bit was Oscar's reactions.

I thought this was the weakest and worst episode ever. Looking back, I really can't remember one memorable moment. Wow. What a clunker.

"Marriage is like that show Everybody Loves Raymond, but its not funny. All the problems are the same, but you know instead of all the funny, pithy dialogue, everybody is really pissed off and tense. Marriage is like a tense, unfunny version of 'Everybody Loves Raymond', only it doesn't last 22 minutes. It lasts forever."

Pam stole the line of the night for me. "What? I'm not in love with her?"

But yeah, other than that, it was kinda lame.

I'm glad to see I'm not in the minority here. Angela with the cat was stupid, Perfect Strangers-style sitcom dreck. Watching Pam try to continue Michael's speech was the only time I laughed the whole episode.

I did cringe when Michael started calling out Holly's boyfriend.

Angela sub-plot aside (which was only bad because it had no real payoff), any episode containing a "frosting"-themed birthday cake, a statement on the comparative awesomeness of the triceratops, Dwight's bedazzled sign, and the line "And then she'll move back to Scranton and her boyfriend will die." does NOT deserve the label of worst ever.

Agreed. They're better than that.

Best visual was Dwight and Jim sitting together eating cake. That's all I've got.

I take that back...there was one other moment. When I have my next birthday at work...I'll be taking the nap please.

I wasn't thrilled with the storyline of these last two episodes at all. Was it written by somebody different? The party planning and Pam taking over for Michael were really the only thing keeping this episode afloat. Pretty disappointing after the great Super Bowl ep.

Mindy Kaling (who also plays Kelly) has written about a dozen other episodes besides this one.

I don't know what happened to her in the last few years. She wrote two of the best, if not THE two best, episodes of the show in "The Dundies" and "The Injury." But over the last few seasons there has just been so much unbelievable, cartoonish, just BAD shit that's happened on her watch.

- Dwight believing he's talking to the REAL Ben Franklin
- Dwight and Michael heading to Utica with bomb materials
- Michael buying a $300 salad to try to get Toby arrested
- Michael proposing to a woman he dated like six times
- Child Michael on that PBS show

She really dumbs down both of those characters to the point that they aren't even sympathetic anymore, they're like Urkel and now you're at the point that you're thanking god when that NBC ad finally shows up to free you. Not only was not having the universally loved Holly horrible, it was a very Russoesque DOUBLE SWERVE because not only was Michael swerved, the audience was too. Also, thank you for about ten scenes between last week and this building up to Kelly selling out the grudge she had for a nap.

Edit: I thought I was done, but I'm not. Let's talk about that Angela business for a minute. Angela sold Andy's ring? A ring that cost more than seven grand? How much farther can this character get dragged down? Well, other than coughing up a HAIRBALL. Ew.

FINAL Edit: Oh, but as dumb as Michael is, he sure can work a flash drive with no problem...somehow.

Not the best of all time - and the Angela sub-plot was indeed stupid and tacked on and a total time-filler - but I don't get the hate hate hate hate hate hate at all. I think Michael finding out that Holly has a boyfriend is probably the single most heartbreaking moment in the history of the show - and Jenna Fischer's godawful Forrest Gump impression was adorable. I'm sold on that alone - and you throw in a "Jim and Dwight must work together to accomplish a rudimentary goal" subplot (always gold when they have to try to coexist) and I'm sold.

Pam was lying about the letter to spare Michael's feelings. It seemed obvious to me, but it seems like I'm the only person on the Internet who didn't take that scene at face value.

Dude, he was, like, 99% sure that wasn't the real Ben Franklin. But then he did know about the rarity of chocolate.

Trying to get Toby arrested was a bit over-the-top, but Michael believing that was a bag of pot was completely in character. My sister once sold the kid across the street a Ziploc baggy of pencil shavings and told him it was weed. He smoked it. He thought he was high. He was 19.

Cringeworthy, but completely in character. (This, however, is probably my candidate for least favorite episode. That isn't the part I have objections to - him trying to kiss Pam is completely out-of-character and wrong and it makes me hate it and I'm glad they never brought it back up.)

The bomb was kinda stupid, I grant you.

You know, that was my first thought too, but since they never referenced it later on (like Pam secretly telling the camera it was so), I just figured I was wrong.

Hilarious!
Michael has come to symbolize every dumb person we've met in our lives.....but with a big heart. (Broken, in this episode)

Count me as one more who was waiting for Pam to give a look to the camera or something like that to signify that she was lying. Since she didn't do it, I'm 95% sure she was telling the truth. If she doesn't come back the next episode and tell us/Jim she was lying, I'll be 99.9% sure she was telling the truth.

Michael showing signs of brilliance at the beginning of the meeting was awesome, but alas, he became Michael again...and that sucked.
