UPDATE: Also, for no real reason, here are the top 10 Wii games of 2006 in terms of sales:

There are now 42 games on the Virtual Console. The 43rd will be out next week.
Click Here (nintendo.com)
Of note in the article is the following;
"of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past from the SNES, the library of downloadable Wii titles grows to 42. Also, next week will see the addition of an all-time favorite, Mario Kart 64.
Yeah. that's right. MARIO. KART. 64.
I knew there was a reason why is saved some points over Christmas!
To celebrate the passing of the Troll Amnesty (and for otherwise no reason at all), I present to you the very best of Trolling here on The W. This Troll Moment of the Week is brought to you by one of the greatest(?) Trolls to come The W;

Of course, that will leave me with 400 points I can't use on anything. The points are neat and all, but I hope NoA will start allowing us to just link a credit card to our Wii Shopping account.
On the other hand, the current system keeps me from buying EVERYTHING on impulse. (Well, everything except Urban Champion.)

Yeah I kinda wanted them to link it to, but I think in being the family friendly company they figured the easiest thing for parents to control the situation would be to do it this way. Like the 360 has it linked and then you can set parental controls, but my brother in law hasn't "had the time to look into it" so his kids aren't on Live right now.

Can you only purchase points in pre-set quantities, or can you just add 800 points to purchase a game if that's all you plan on spending? (Assuming anyone here has used that method for obtaining points...)
As silly as it is, I'm hoping they eventually release the SNES Mario Kart. Don't get me wrong - I like the 64 version, but it was the first Mario Kart that got me hooked.

In the case of me and my 1400 points, if I buy Mario Kart 64, I'll be left with 400 points, meaning if I want to then buy an NES game, I'll have to buy another 1000 points just to have enough to cover the 500.
I suppose they just want you to bank a whole bunch of points and not fret over it like I'm doing.

I think you have to do some sort of juggling. Like load what you're currently playing onto the Wii memory and everything else on the card until you're ready to use it.

I believe you are 100% correct. You can copy VC games to an SD card, but to play the games, they have to be on the hard drive. I haven't tested it, but that's what I've heard.
I love the Excite Truck feature where you can replace the in-game music with your own MP3s. It greatly improves the game for me (and I thought the game was pretty great to begin with).
What has everyone bought for the Virtual Console so far? I got Toe Jam & Earl, which is somehow both really boring and really great. Not sure how that works, but I love it. I also got SNES SimCity, which is pretty bare-bones compared to the SimGames that followed it, but I love it anyway. I refuse to build roads, so all my SimCitizens have no choice but to use mass transit. You'd think the fire department would complain about this. And you'd think the people on fire would complain more.
There are tons of games on there already that I'd like to pick up - F-Zero, Mario Kart 64, Gunstar Heroes - but I'm holding off for a bit. Though I might crack and get NES Pro Wrestling when it comes out (rumoured to be very soon). I've never beaten that game and I'm determined to do so. I am the master of the Back Brain Kick.

I have purchased (in order) Super Mario Bros., Sonic the Hedgehog, Pinball (boring as hell, but it was the first NES game I ever bought, so the nostalgia factor was high), Street Fighter II, Super Mario 64, and Mario Kart 64. (The kart control on MK64 feels SO loose after getting used to the DS version.)
I'm especially interested in SNES and N64 games since I never had either system. Come to think of it, I never had a TurboGrafx16 either, but none of the VC games released for it so far excite me.

| #98 Posted on 1.2.07 0744.22 | Instant Rating: 5.75 | I have only bought Super Mario Bros, and I have a question for you old-school game players like myself.
I seem to remember that once the Game Over screen hits, you could hit either the Select or the Start button, and it would take you back to the same world you left off at. So if you died on World 5-3, you would start back at World 5-1.
Meanwhile, in this port of Super Mario, once the game over screen hits, you start all the way back at 1-1. So am I crazy and just not remembering right?
I ask because I know I've beat the game numerous times, but I never remembered beating it all the way through in one go-around. I was never good at the 1-up trick of the Turtle on the stairs, so I can't fathom how I was able to beat the game without the trick mentioned above.
Anyways, Mario Kart 64 is next on the list to buy off the VC.

My VC games thus far;
GUNSTAR HEROS R-TYPE Street Fighter II Super Mario bros. Super Mario 64 Super Mario Kart 64
Tomorrow; Contra III.
Torchslasher, I'm none too sure about the trick you just mentioned. I never used it in the original game, so I'm not sure if it would work in the VC game.

"If you run out of lives and want to continue then at the game over screen press and hold A then press start at 1 player (or 2 player) and you will start at the beginning of the world at which you died!"
I seem to recall that you had to hold A from when you died until you hit Start, or something to that effect.
