Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you...

It actually is, because the strap they're replacing it with began shipping with their December stock, meaning that Japan's launch stock would include the new strap (based on their launch date).

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

Um... I'm definitely not stupid, and I have had a few times where I have let go of the controller because I was not actively thinking about it. This would be during the bowling game on Wii sports. I've also almost let go of it while pitching. Any motion where the natural response is to let go will probably trigger this.

Yeah, I could probably bowl by flicking around my wrist, but that really isn't the point of the system, now is it?

I have to disagree. I do use more than just a wrist flick because it is fun, I was just saying that was all you NEEDED to do. But more importantly I have had zero trouble remembering to hold on to the remote.

Sense memory? No, common sense takes over and says don't let go. It's really not difficult at all so I don't get this. I mean after playing tons of baseball and bowling in my real life, it doesn't in any way trigger a sense memory when I'm holding a video game controller just because the arm motion is the same. Don't see it at all.

Well, I shouldn't call other people stupid. But let's just say that if I had broken my own TV playing a video game, I would feel pretty stupid. Also, I can't see myself blaming the game manufacturer for it. But everyone else's mileage may vary.

I have a Psychology degree. I should probably go look up the correct terms somewhere.

Anyway, this all goes back to a long argument about how people can be cured of phobias in a VR environment and how virtual actions activate the same areas of the brain as real actions.

I'm pretty sure there is more to it than "these guys are tools" but I don't want to do the research so Feh. But you will see graduate thesis' done on the cognitive dissonance caused by virtual gaming, I can almost guarantee it.

Anyway go read "Mind Hacks" if you want to see everyday easy examples of how the human mind is imperfect.

No thanks. I'll just accept what you're saying because it must mean I'm some kind of superhuman to have never come close to letting go of my Wiimote.

Well, my post may have come across as "I have a degree therefore I am right" but what I was trying to show (and probably failed) was that there are people who study the association of items and motions.

The point is that people may or may not be tapping into areas of their brain not normally used by video games. I think it is probably something that people would experience more often if they were very familiar with the game being emulated. For example, if someone had never pitched a ball, the pitching one might not be too difficult to overcome - but I naturally want to release the ball at the end of my fastball motion. I realize I'm not actually pitching a ball.

You know, nevermind. If you want to feel superior to me, a rational argument won't be enough to win you over.

It's not got anything to do with wanting to feel superior to anyone, as I was mostly just poking fun. It's just that I find it hard to believe that this is even an issue. Again, this seems so simple. Hold on to the remote. I got it. Why are other people having a problem and not me? Did everyone play more sports than me? Doubt it.

Edit to try and clarify: Look, here's what I've seen and read. Incidents of mostly people playing Tennis and swinging so hard they lose their grip on the Wiimote. Not playing something were they would normally let go. Just swinging way too hard. Only seen one instance of a Bowling accident, and maybe one from baseball.

I get that it's easy to get into these games. I can get really into them as well. But I know in my mind that I'm playing a game and that I can swing hard, but not so much as to risk losing my grip or causing injury. The more I think about it the more I feel it is just people being a bit ignorant. There is zero reason to swing with every ounce of power you have in your body to play or even fully enjoy this system.

And then there are the other reports of people swinging their hand into lights, fans and tables. Again, this is just stupid. Why are you playing around that stuff, and why are you swinging hard enough to break your hand?

Intelligent people should know better, that's what I'm saying. I realize from your profession that it's in your nature to analyze this stuff, but sometimes the answer is a lot easier.

On a much more serious note....

Anyone else enjoying the AWESOMENESS of the virtual console?

My perosnal reccomendation; grab Gunstar Heros then get a friend. You won't be dissapointed. And Super Mario 64 (which works VERY well on a GameCube controler, I might add).

I haven't downloaded any games yet, but the only ones that appeal to me at the moment are Mario 64 and maybe Sonic. According to this Wikipedia entry, though, some sweet ones are coming out soonish. I'm looking forward to Punch-Out!!, Super Mario 3, and Mario Kart 64. In actuality, I'm REALLY aching for Tecmo Super Bowl and RBI Baseball (both for the NES).

I've been looking at the Virtual Console but I've been so busy with Zelda I haven't been ready to buy anything. I know that one day when I'm bored I will get Super Mario 64.

I woke up this morning to find my Wii glowing blue. Turns out the Forecast channel is available once you update your system. I still don't know how much I'll use it (since my PC is always on and Forecastfox is right there), but for anyone who relies on the Weather channel and their cycling updates it would be an improvement.

You believe me, don't you?

So THAT'S why the disc drive was blue this morning. I was on my way out the door, and thought that I'd left it on or something. I had just checked for updates last night, so there is something to try out tonight.

IGN has a report about it that also states that the Opera browser, beta version, will be available this Friday. However the report acts like this is all only happening in Europe, so I don't know. Sure hope it's true.

Well, I am one of the ones to have broken one of my wrist straps. Thankfully the remote flew sideways and just hit the wall instead of flying at the TV (I was playing tennis). So far, nobody has called me stupid...to my face at least. But I also admit that I was being a bit overzealous. I certainly didn't think the wrist strap would break off though. And that Wiimote is still working, so I'll just have to use my second Wiimote for the more active games.

Two friends told me that I could get a replacement strap from some website, but I haven't really looked into it much yet.

I seriously can't wait for Punch Out!

I don't know where you draw the line, really. But for me, it's somewhere in here...

If the wrist strap breaks because it is defective (or if it's just not strong enough to handle average use), that's not stupid. That's Nintendo being stupid.

This is stupid. Or at least painful to watch. She hurts my ears.

Can I also just add how awesome Nintendo customer service is? I ordered the componant video cable while it was on backorder. They shipped it within a day of when they had estimated they would have them. UPS then proceeded to screw up the delivery, this being a new street we just built on.

So I called UPS, they conferenced in Nintendo and within ten minutes Nintedo set up a new order and was set to just ship out a new one, which they did. They also shipped it two day because of the problem, even though they didn't cause it.

UPS then found the initial package, and delivered both to me on the same day. Nintendo called and asked if I could possibly ship one back to them, and gave me some info so I wouldn't have to pay for it.

That is one prompt, classy company there.

Oh and the cable makes things look all nice and shiny. You should get one.

Games to be released for the Virtual Console on Christmas day;

- Super Mario Bros(!). for 500 Wii Points

- Super Castlevania IV(!) for 800 Wii Points

- Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior(!!!!) for 800 Wii Points (SNES version).

- Toe Jam & Earl(!) for 800 Wii Points.

And of course, a game which I encourage ALL W's with a Wii to try (along with Gunstar Heroes).

- R-Type (1-2 players, 800 Wii Points), TurboGrafx16.

I just bought 4000 points (now at 4200 banked) the other day. And somehow, I may just spend over 3000 of them on Christmas day.

**R-TYPE. GUNSTAR HEROES.**

I think I'm going to be pumping more money into the virtual console than software for the system.

As a note, does anyone know if it's possible to save the VC titles on SD? I'm guessing no, due to theft being an issue....but still.

Wow, that's an awesome lineup. I already got the PS2 Street Fighter compilations, as well as the SF2 version on Xbox Live so I probably won't go there, although the SNES version was the main one I played growing up. Not worth more money at this point I would say, especially since the Xbox version has great online features.

Super Mario and Super Castlevania on the other hand WILL be mine.

Just to add to the Wii madness, the trial version of the Internet Channel was released tonight (or should I say, in the wii hours of the morning).

I'm posting this from my Wii!

EDIT: (No longer posting from my Wii, sorry) For the record, the browser DOES have Flash support, which means that YouTube videos work. That's pretty damned cool on its own, but it also means videos on sites like allsp.com and alluc.org also work. I just watched Yakko Warner sing all the words in the alphabet on alluc.org, projected onto my wall. (=
