I guess they wanted a the host singing thing again. I'm a fan so I think he can handle it.

Creative choice by the Academy, and I think kind of an inspired one. MacFarlane is a legitimately great singer who is more than up to handling the musical numbers, and we've seen from the roasts and SNL that he can handle being a host and a performer with aplomb.

"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." --- Bart Giamatti, on baseball

I almost never watch the Oscars. If I can remember to tune in, I will be watching.

No way should they do the "cop during the day" thing with Punisher. That turns the show into Dexter. They'd have to change his origin too. Vietnam would make him in his 60's at least. Desert Storm would work.
