My eight-year-old son has all the Captain Underpants books, though not the plush doll. ;-) It's a semi-comic-book paperback series written to appeal to kids, with more toilet humor than you can shake a bowl brush at.
I agree, that list of recommended items was hilarious. ;-)

Instead of:
