I never thought I'd see Miami or Virginia Tech's ugly-ass basketball uniforms on the same court as the lovely Carolina blue unis.
Well, you'll take the wins over them, no?
Wouldn't it be interesting if Miami doesn't leave? The only team going would be one that sued the would-be escapists...

If Miami doesn't leave, they are much smarter than anyone has ever given them credit for. By getting Virginia Tech into the ACC, that eliminates the only consistent threat to Miami's BCS bid (West Virginia threatens once a decade, Pitt still has to show me they can be good over a 3-4 year period, and Syracuse needs Donovan McNabb to recover some eligibility). Thus, Miami would now have an open path to the big money bowl, get a better deal from the Big East in the process, and still have their walk-over conference wins against Rutgers, UCONN and BC (when you don't beat a program for two decades, your a walk over win until proven otherwise).

| #24 Posted on 1.7.03 0835.19 | So who do you see the ACC picking up to get there 12th team. I think BC and 'cuse are out. How about an up and commer like CSouth Florida? And where does the Little East go now? Louisville? Marshall? Cinn? give Notre Dame the ultimatum, join in football or be dropped in B-Ball? Will the Big East disolve further? Pitt could join the big ten? Or could they go big, no pun here, and make a run at Penn St. whom reportedly is unhappy in the Big Ten? And the most important question, will NCAA 2004 have the conferance switch after one year? Well at least this gives us something to watch until the sason starts.
Now you will receive us. We do not ask for your poor, or your hungry. We do not want your tired and sick. It is your corrupt we claim. It is your evil that will be sought by us. With every breath, we shall hunt them down. Each day we will spill their blood, 'til it rains down from the skies. Do not kill. Do not rape. Do not steal. These are principles which every man of every faith can embrace. These are not polite suggestions, these are codes of behavior, and those of you that ignore them will pay the dearest cost. There are varying degrees of evil. We urge you lesser forms of filth, not to push the bounds and cross over, in to true corruption, into our domain. Now Penn State going to the ACC, however....

I second that.
Interesting thing saw on sportscenter, the Big East MUST get another football school, as there is an 8 team minimum. UConn might join sooner than later, and if no one else wants to join the Big East, it will go the way of the Southwest Conf.

Recent coaching changes may prove me wrong, but I can't see Penn State basketball bringing any prestige to the ACC. We fit better geographically and rivalry-wise into the Big East, but, yes, the ACC in football would make sense. Travel expenses would probably be comparable to traveling to Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, etc. Bowden vs. Paterno in (I think) the first ever non-Blockbuster Bowl meeting between the two winningest active head coaches in I-A? But basketball, no. As much as I love our men's basketball team, adding them to the ACC would be the equivalent of filling a bottle of Smirnoff's with tap water.
And as much as I'd like to be in the Big East, I can't complain about the Big Ten anymore. Only took a couple of zebras to light that fire in the Old Man again.
Of course, this plan could also work.

Actually the Big East will need to add TWO teams to get to eight, because next year is supposed to be the last year for Temple in the Big East.
