The Nets have their eyes on a Blazers All-Star big man for the second straight offseason.
According to league sources, the Nets and Portland have discussed swapping Kerry Kittles and Aaron Williams for Shareef Abdur-Rahim. While nothing is imminent, the Blazers are looking to trade their unhappy forward, who will receive $14.6 million in the final year of his contract.

Let's see...

Kidd, Jefferson, Abdur-Rahim, Martin, Collins (or Mourning if the rumors have any truth.)

This could work if this trade happens. The issue with the Nets is that with the Mourning kidney surgery and other factors, it was still the same team as last year whereas others (Detroit and Indiana) became much better.

I like Abdur-Rahim, and it could be a good role for him, with Kidd, Jefferson, and Martin as the team leaders, he could be a good role player.

You kidding? Shareef certainly deserves to be a starter in this league, and he's gonna be happy being on the bench behind Kenyon Martin and Richard Jefferson?

I'm not saying that those two aren't talented. I'm simply saying there are teams that could use a talented starting power/small forward, and Shareef would be a good fit on one of them.

Then again, not all of them are in contention the way the Nets are. I guess we'll have to stay tuned.
