The Nets have their eyes on a Blazers All-Star big man for the second straight offseason. According to league sources, the Nets and Portland have discussed swapping Kerry Kittles and Aaron Williams for Shareef Abdur-Rahim. While nothing is imminent, the Blazers are looking to trade their unhappy forward, who will receive $14.6 million in the final year of his contract.
Kidd, Jefferson, Abdur-Rahim, Martin, Collins (or Mourning if the rumors have any truth.)
This could work if this trade happens. The issue with the Nets is that with the Mourning kidney surgery and other factors, it was still the same team as last year whereas others (Detroit and Indiana) became much better.
That's how the lottery was in the first place, and the first thing that happened was that the team with the worst record ended up drawing the final spot, which led to the no-worse-than-4th system which led to the ping pong balls.
