This is an interesting look (with video) of the Luger/Brody cage match from January 1987. I like seeing this kind of article out in the mainstream. It makes us look less dorky somehow.

I liked his columns originally, but i think his desire to not move away from the "meta"/"Ur-Reality"/"postmodern" theories have made them hard to read.

He's dumbed them down a lot trying to reach a broader audience. I guess it is good to have a wrestling column sort of out there in the mainstream, but his ppv previews are mostly just puff pieces.

That's been my take. I think he just can't admit that his theory never came true (or maybe never was true to begin with). I sort of get how he is like a Pro Wrestling 101 for non-fans and perhaps he should stick to that (his Dead Wrestler bios for Deadspin were what brought him attention in the first place). Actually, Grantland as a whole does a lot better analyzing the past than looking towards the future.

I was just able to sit down and watch this episode, a day-and-a-half late, but damn it was fun. We start out with Drago perched atop the temple, making good on the vow that Dario Cueto would see him again.
