THAT was certainly impressive. I got home and turned on the TV just in time to see the first of his two consecutive dunks at the end of regulation, and I was mesmerized watching him take over the game.

There have been a lot of MJ comparisons made, but to me, it reminded me of a solo version of the Bird-Dominique fourth quarter duel in the '88 playoffs.

It amazes me that the guy is five months younger than Brandon Roy. He put up a 48-9-7 line in a road playoff game against the number one seed, and he is only going to get better.

I also think if you switched the Lakers and Cavaliers Kobe would be battling for the Eastern Conference title while LeBron would be at home on TV.

I agree with everything you just said. I watched that game with my dad last night. After it was all over, he turned to me and said "That guy can do whatever he wants out there", and all I could say was "Yup". It's just too bad he has to do it all by himself.

YOU CANT LET ONE GUY GET ALL THOSE POINTS...HE BURNIN' DOWN THE PALACE, THE SILVERDOME, THE COBO ARENA AND THE JOE LOUIS! (Charles in the post-game)

Although for all the talk about The James Gang, whether they actualy showed it or not last night LeBron has a better supporting cast than Kobe has with the Lakers.

Also, Lebron going insane wasn't the most farfetched thing that happened in overtime. The guy who made one of the most critical defensive stops for Cleveland was Damon Jones. Telling me Lebron was going to put up 49 and own Detroit in overtime is one thing, but THAT is just crazy talk.

This was my point, except I think the Lakers are equal with Cleveland. If Cleveland has any advantage in talent (I don't think they do) it is negated by the HUGE disadvantage they have at coach. In fact, the worst thing that could maybe happen to the Cavs is this success, because they will keep Mike Brown around because of it.

(I meant if you put the Lakers in the East and the Cavs in the West, Frosty.)

I haven't watched an NBA game in...oh, god, probably not since Michael was with the Bulls. 96, maybe. But I was listening to the guys on ESPN Radio go on about the game and how close it was and, when I got home, I just turned it on, and got sucked into an NBA game, something I never thought would happen again. I've long been an advocate of college hoops over the pros, but that was just one hell of a game. Lebron proved he was everything I'd heard about and more to me.

Kudos to the Cavs. I hope they make the finals, as it might make me interested to watch them for once.

I don't know about that one. Switch both teams around and the Cavs would have easily gone down in 5 to Phoenix in the first round while the Lakers would be going neck and neck with the Pistons. This doesn't show Lebron has a better supporting cast. It just confirms that he's playing in a far weaker conference.

I heard something about LeBron posterizing Tayshaun Prince on a dunk near the end of regulation. Is that the one at the top of the page, or is it a different one? Anyone have a picture of it?

the 48 points was a lot more impressive before I heard that the game went to double OT.

Listen, I watched every single minute of the 2nd half and the OTs of that game and don't get me wrong, that was probably one of the best performances I've seen in a LONG time, but 3 things:

1. I also saw Vince Carter torch the 76ers 6 yrs ago in Game 3 and that was the loudest I've ever heard a Toronto crowd (even die-hard hockey fans admitted that). We all saw how he turned out, so let's see if this is a one time thing

2. I kept going nuts because DETROIT DIDN'T DOUBLE HIM!! And it's inexcusable those 2 dunks at the end of regulation (you can't let him get to the rim like that) Every time they did and he passed out, the Cavs looked like they wanted no part of the ball. Varejo gets stuffed. Gooden missed a 5 footer. I swear, it's like Brown and Saunders are in some bizarre race to see who can coach the worst. Let's just say that I would have taken my chances with Eric Snow hoisting up 18 ft jumpers with no one around him than what LeBron was doing.

3. He still missed 3 free throws in the last 2 minutes to ice it (plus he airballed a long jumper in the first OT). I know, I know, it's nitpicking, but if he's really made the leap, he's gotta stick those.

I'm still skeptical about Cleveland going to the finals. Believe me, I want them to now, especially if James plays like that all the time. The NHL playoffs are lacklustre, I can't get into tennis anymore and the Jays are so boring even their manager looks like he's about to fall asleep, so it would be nice to see SOME excitement from a pro league. But Detroit isn't going to panic. Plus this Cavs team is dreadful. If I'm LeBron, I'm looking at what Kobe did this week and just planning.....

Kevin Kelly: "Mr. Austin, would you like to comment on Wade Keller's Take that endorsing the XFL hurts your anti-authority character?"

Steve Austin: "Oh shit, he actually said that? I thought the boys in the back were ribbing me!"

Kelly: "No, he really said that. Did they tell you the part about you sitting in the stands, looking all skeptical?"

Austin: "AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah... oh man that was too much."

They might have not started sequences with two men on him, but whenever the Cavs were (dumbly) running a pick for him, both defenders would stick with LeBron and the pick-er would be ignored. And James would still make a basket.

I just hope this new investigation puts the University of Rhode Island on probation, and forces them to have any NCAA appearances with Lamar Odom wiped out of the record books.
