Sorta a surprise, after only one year. However, they really didn't seem to do ANYTHING in the last half of the year.

I wonder who's in their sights as a replacement.

ESPN is reporting they're requesting an interview with Vikes DC Leslie Frazier.

-edit-

Apparently they're also targetting Pete Carroll from USC as well.

I'm conflicted on how to feel about this. I don't think one year is fair to him, but the team that finished this year was one of the worst Seahawk teams I've seen in my many years of being a fan (and I've seen some very bad Seahawk teams). Also surprised they would do this before hiring a GM and letting them make their own assessment of the direction they would want to go in, which might have included Mora. I would have been all for letting our OC (Knapp) go though. His offense was truly offensive. Gonna be a weird but hopefully hopeful offseason.

OOPS, wrote MORE instead of MORA.

Anyway, Pete Carroll? That could only be a horrible idea. He proved in two different cities he just isn't an NFL coach.

I don't know why they just didn't fire the OC and get aggressive in the off season in the free agent market to upgrade the offense.

And why should we be the safe landing pad for Easy Pete to escape the NCAA police?? Not sure about this move.

Major sports media all seems to say it's an almost done deal for Pete Carroll. Certainly a strange move.

Then again it seems his teams at USC don't have the work ethic they used to, like they got spoiled from winning so much. Still don't buy the NCAA will come down hard on the football team, but we'll see.

edit: Feldman says USC may go after Riley at Oregon State...Pac 10 could see a lot of changes..

Yep, ESPN is saying it's a done deal. That's CRAZY. I can't think of a coaching move that's hurt two teams more than it's going to hurt these two teams.

Mora was a poor choice to follow Holmgren anyway. I never saw the sense in that, but if they are really looking at Pete Carroll they should maybe look a little harder.

Is it me or are more and more coaches getting fired after one season?

And if you keep changing coaches, how do you ever build a team.

Actually, I'd say that was what a lot of the fans were looking for to be honest. Myself, being a lifelong fan, I was very unhappy with the offense and felt like they mailed it in the last 5 to 6 weeks of the season.

I didn't know about Mora's firing until about a half hour after it was announced. I am very surprised but the guess by some of the journalists is that the organization wants to hit the ol' reset button on anything that Tim Ruskell did just prior to his firing.

As a Pats fan and a Husky fan, Carroll leaving USC to come coach the Hawks is like "Happy Birthday to ME", especially since (I'm sure) Sark isn't going to leave UW for USC.

Sometime it's okay to admit you made a mistake in a hire, but I agree it doesn't seem wise to fire Mora right now.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that his recruiting classes were pretty highly rated.
