“Also, another thing to keep in mind- Austin was a heel in that match against Bret Hart. For most of the last 5 years, he has been a face and faces and heels use different psychology in the ring in the WWF.”

But yet, that's not entirely true-- certainly not with Austin. Austin's character and psychology didn't really change all that much after WrestleMania 13 (when he and Hart did the double-turn). But the things he was once reviled for, he was now beloved for.

Austin's always been kind of an anti-hero anyway. My point is that there's no reason his psychology shouldn't be the same or better than it was five, six years ago.

But the psychology DID change. He went from being the guy who worked a face's body part only for the face to make a big comeback to being that face who gets worked over only to make the improbable comeback. His character stayed basically the same, but his matches didn't.

Ahhh, the Austin of a year ago, those were some awesome moments. Too bad every week the hacks had to say "bad for business, bad for business". I ignored them to bad Vince couldn't Loved the Austin character, I don't think I'm overstating it might have been one of the best characters in all of television, from creepy to HAlarious. I remember when he first started a lot of people stated it was a psudo-homosexual character, I never looked at it like that I thought it was a more like a son trying to grab his fathers attention... Another good change they did with the character on the fly was when he started he was talking down to Debra and they all of a sudden changed it for the better and he became pussy-whipped by Debra on many occasions.

People mentioned some of the better Heel-Austin stuff but I do remember a few more, Once he was backstage with Debra and he was bothered about Jericho/Benoit and Debra kept asking if he wanted some vegetables. Austin snaps and said "Do you think me eating Vegatables will make my problems go away?!". He shoves a bunch of Veggies into his mouth, and with his mouth full says "Does that make you happy I'm eathing the damn vegetables!"... Another great Austin moment was when Torrie debuted, her and Vince were talking with Austin in the room, Austin noticed Torrie was flirting so all of a sudden he hugged Vince and Vince gave him a look like 'not now please' Then Torrie and Vince made a date to talk contract over the weekend and Austin jumps in and says "I'll check my schedule but I'm pretty sure I'm free weekend".

As for Austin inring, I see Austin as a guy who performs up or down to his oppenents level. Not nessesary saying it's a good or bad thing but just something I noticed. HE can't carry anyone to a good match, but if he's in there with someone good, Austin has too much pride to be a step or 2 behind this oppenent so he'll bust his ass to keep up and have a great match. Recently he's in there with Hall, Show, Undertaker, Pac, Bradshaw as a partner. Not nesessary the cream of the workrate crop. But when he's in there with Angle, Benoit or RVd( that smackdown match in T.O was amazing a while back) it's a different story, have him in there with Eddie or Edge and we will see a modivated Austin.

Well... we'll see. I'm still convinced that the only reason Austin's in a feud with Guerrero and Benoit is so he can get himself over against two guys who can carry an inanimate carbon rod to a three-star match.

Mind you, I'm looking forward to seeing the feud played out. But when it's all over, everybody knows whose shoulders are getting pinned to the mat.

1) I miss Heel Austin

2) I'm bored with current Austin (so far, things may change)

Okay, got that out of the way. Now how about this?

Mind you, I'm looking forward to seeing the feud played out. But when it's all over, everybody knows whose shoulders are getting pinned to the mat.

Ummmmm..... Austin's the face. Faces usually come out on top in the end. Unless of course, the heels end up with bigger and better fish to fry after successfully defeating the face. It would be completely irresponsible and stupid for the bookers to say, "Okay, let's give Austin a feud with Eddie, and lets make sure Austin wins because he's Steve Austin." Instead the booking team should say, "Hey look, we've got this Austin/Eddy thing going. Let's see what they can do, and what the reaction is with the fans. Then let's see what we can do to add fuel to this feud, and keep the heat up."

-Jag

Of course, this is the WWF, so maybe they do book according to that first style.

How'd this get turned into a what we don't like about Austin thing?

Granted, I don't think anybody in here is saying that Austin is backstage poison, he's worthless, yadda yadda yadda. Is he a pain in the ass at times? I don't know, I don't work for WWE. Is he famous? Incredibly. Notorious? Indubidubly not. How often have you heard about some earthshattering bullshit happening at the hands of Steve Austin?

So he refused to work with Jarrett? There was a time when Jarrett was bigger than Austin, and maybe, just maybe, Austin was in the right. It could have been true.

However, since then, he's worked with, and helped elevate tenfold people like Jericho, Benoit, and RVD. If it wasn't for his feud with the man, the Rock would never have gotten anywhere near as big has he has. Same with HHH and Angle, granted that Austin's contributions to them were shared.

And, as of late, he's been wrestling, and beating, Scott Hall, Ric Flair, Show, and X-pac. Men that were bigger names than him at one time.

And now, it seems to me that Eddy working against Austin is career poison. I say no way. If anything, Eddy Guererro is going to come out of this looking like a very legitamate threat, IE: MARKETABLE. Even if he loses to Austin in the end.

But hey, that's just what I think.

While working security at a local indy show, I saw Ricky Morton's bare ass, and the next time I hear anybody out there say "playing Ricky Morton", the person they mention had best have a really nice ass.

Since he came to the WWF in 2000, I have thought Eddy would never rise above the Intercontinental Title level. Now, while I still think he has been a midcarder too long to become a major drawing card on his own, a feud with Austin I think will raise his career to levels he has never reached before. I think he is too small to become a long-term main event heel, and his face schtik in the past hasn't been as good as his heel work, so I think this feud will put Geurrero at the level Benoit and Jericho were at this time last year. He will be above the mid-card titles, and able to carry his half of a main event when paired against an established main eventer, but not a world title contender. It is definitely great for his career though.

Booker, to Shane - "Yeah, I can dig it."
Austin, under his breath - "Where's your shovel?"

Stupid, yes, but I laughed. Now I turn the channel when Austin is on.
I totally miss his insane heel music. It just sounded much more dangerous than the old "bumbum bahbum bah bum WAH!" thing. During the Alliance days, there was a truly dangerous vibe to Austin climbing the turnbuckle and flipping off the crowd as Disturbed screamed, "I'm BREAKING THE LIMIT INSIDE YOU!"
I think Austin liked playing that character better, too. He would probably like to return to it, but knows it's impossible.

Oh, come on. He's buried guys like Jericho, Benoit and RVD every chance he's gotten. Those guys have like 1 win between them against Austin. Yeah, what a great rub. Austin/RVD was a money feud, but they blew it off.

I might concede Rock to you, but he's done the job every time except for the Survivor Series. If you don't think that Eddie's gonna be looking up at the lights, you're kidding yourself.

Wow, I thought whoever is doing the BOOKING would be the one causing the burials in the alleged cemetary called WWE, but then, I have no first hand knowledge of what actually goes on backstage the way you do...

;)~

Teasing aside, the Jericho/Benoit feud was HARDLY a burial; it wasn't a casual fan success however and combining it with Benoit getting injured is probably what got the plug pulled on it (prematurely I think). Saying that those two combined with RVD have only one win over Austin is a 100% false statement by the way, or did Jericho's Undisputed title win not count to you because it wasn't clean? The RVD thing was a tease that never went anywhere, I agree, but they've teased lots of big feuds with RVD and never followed through. You could make a case for Booker getting buried maybe, but saying Austin is even to blame for even that is pure speculation and your own personal dislike for Austin, not fact.

(If I could change this from italics, I would.)
