There is a time and a place for Jerry Lawler...it's called HEAT. His style fits the MTV thing better ... plus I don't watch Heat so I wouldn't have to listen to him anymore.

I'd have no problems with Jerry if he didn't use the same material he was using back on Superstars in 92.

My problem with Heyman was that he spent too much time bitterly arguing with JR. I know that was sort of his role, but it got unbearable to listen to. I appreciate his historical knowlege of the business and I liked it when he incorporated it into his promos, but he was just too harsh-sounding.

I mean, a typical Invasion-era RAW would go like this -

Heyman - JR, the Alliance is gonna kick your ass, come Survivor Series!!

JR - Sounds like you've been drinking too much of the Koolaid

Heyman - SHUT UP!!

JR - Kiss my ass!!

.. and that would go on for another 5 minutes. Not very entertaining.

What disturbs me the most about Lawler is that everyone knows of his penchant for 'young' women and he continues to spew his puppies line at every opportunity. I see him and wonder if he is a pervert or a pedophile.

Schiavone? Ugh. I'd give him one chance if they ever put on the XWF he did commentary for in the hopes of somehow getting the circe 1987 Schiavone back. But if/when that failed, OFF WITH HIS HEAD! Or at least off with his mic.

There, I feel better now.

Schiavone rules...classic voice that brings back a lot of memories for us old timers. My favorite announcer by far.

I'd put Shiavone in the same bucket as Michael "Shill" Cole. Anybody who talks about the main eventers all the time, thus making whatever is happening right now in the ring seem unimportant, just winds me up. The job of a commentator is to get the talent over, in my mind that means all of the talent. The Big Poochie mentality just doesn't do that.

I'd much rather have Heyman's commentary (annoying voice and all) than Lawler's repeated immature comments. As someone else noted, I can think up enough perverted comments by myself without having a horny old man make them for me.

But given the option, I'd go with Bobby “The Brain” Heenan over both of them. Heenan is simply the man.

Lawler's immature comments are one thing, but I hate the fact that he feels the need to fill EVERY moment of silence with his voice.

Q: If you could have interviewed Marvin Gaye, where would you have proposed to meet and what would you have asked him?

A: I would have met anywhere as long as it was before his father shot him. I would have asked him, "Hey, don't you think there's some chance that your father might shoot you? To death, I mean?"

You know, Bullitt, I'd never picked up on that but now you mention it that is so true. Even in interviews, he speaks whilst others are speaking or just says something utterly pointless like "Oh my God!" to fill a pause. Oh man, I'm starting to hate the guy more by the day.

I never really noticed it until SmackDown about a month ago, but it got to the point where I actually had to turn it off...Lawler just would not shut up. Literally every pause meant, to him at least, it was time to speak.

Hey, I remember when Schivone was the good announcer! Some of you must not remember David Crockett. "KICK HIM! KICK HIM LIKE A DOG!"

Considering I'm an "old timer" myself in wrestling..im curious as to what DMC is referring to. Any good will I had towards him was ruined in a three week span late 1998. First was the line about Foley winning his first title and how that will put asses in the seats. The second was how he HAD to run to the ring and celebrate with Flair after he beat Bischoff.

Just to throw something out there, personally, if I could only make *one* change to the announce team, no I wouldn't get rid of Lawler... I wouldn't even add in Heyman. I'd get rid of Michael Cole. Damn, I hate him much much more than I hate Lawler.

Bring back Jim Cornette! In WCW, he was great at getting wrestlers over. I still remember his calls of classic Cactus Jack matches. He has all the shrill and manic energy of Jerry Lawler (minus the libido) and the knowlege of Paul Heyman. Ross and Cornette should do Raw, keep Lawler and Cole together on Smackdown.

But, of course, that means Cornette would have to give up running OVW...
