OK, there are hundreds of stations out there that are not major networks, yet have good shows on or will be soon. I try to catch the good ones.

THE HUB is a joint venture between DISCOVERY CHANNEL and Hasbro Toys.

* "Transformers Prime"
All new Transformers cartoon featuring Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime.

* "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic"
CGI animated.

* "Dan Vs."
About Dan, "a loveable misanthrope who, along with his reluctant sidekick Chris, haphazardly seeks revenge against the frustrations of modern life that -- whether in reality or in his imagination -- conspire against him."

* "Family Game Night"
Hour-long game show, in which kids and adults play for points and prizes as teams. Games are based on such Hasbro classics as Cranium, Bop-It! and Connect 4.

* "G.I. Joe Renegades"
The animated series explores the origins of the elite fighting force and their nemesis, the Cobra organization.

* "Pound Puppies"
Teams of dogs must find homes for puppies in need.

* "R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour"
A half-hour live-action anthology series based on and inspired by the master of kid horror.

* "The 99"
Based on a comic book, the animated series follows the adventures of superhero characters who must work together to maximize their powers. Each member of The 99 embodies one of 99 global values.

U.S. premieres added by The Hub Monday include:

* "Animal Mechanicals"
It is described as "an action/adventure series for preschoolers that combines the excitement of monster truck rallies with the fantastic world of mythical, transforming animals on cool quests."

* "Cosmic Quantum Ray"
CGI-animated comedy-action-adventure series about "an elite, eccentric team of intergalactic heroes that saves the Universe almost every day."

* "Deltora Quest"
52-episode anime series about The Shadow Lord, an evil sorcerer who has taken over the kingdom of Deltora by destroying a magical object.

* "Family Movie Night"
Special presentations of films with family appeal.

* "Fraggle Rock"
Jim Henson classic.

* "Meerkat Manor"
With documentary footage and narration, it tells the story of the Whiskers, one of more than a dozen families of meerkats.

* "Strawberry Shortcake"
The brand for girls in CGI-animated form.

An interesting note: Hasbro is legally not able to advertise the same toy line during it's show. You can not see TRANSFORMERS commercials during TRANSFORMERS: PRIME. What you will be seeing is GI JOE commercials during TRANSFORMERS: PRIME and MY LITTLE PONY commercials during STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE and such. That seems odd to me.

Forget it Josh... it's Cerebustown.

The Hub is going to be the new name of the Discovery Kids channel starting October 10, by the way. So if you have Discovery Kids on your cable dial, presumably you'll have The Hub post switchover.

Must get channel for last bastion of good cartoons. I doubt it, but is that New Fraggle Rock or just repeats? I hope they don't gay up Transformers with a bunch of kids and new more amine designs.

It's kind of frightening that I'm contemplating the merits of watching people play Bop-It for an hour.

    * "The 99"

It may specifically be global values on TV, but the idea behind the comic book, is that they're the 99 names of Allah from the Quran (which are positive traits and all.)

I have not read the comic book myself, but the wikipedia article makes it sound like they don't play up the religious connection in the book and probably even less so in this TV show. Still is interesting (and heartening) that it's being made into a television show.

It will be repeats of the old series- not a new series.

The good news is that there is a new Fraggle Rock feature film in development.

I eagerly await Palin's response* to this, and then John Stewart's response to her response.

It's entirely possible that the reason that I disliked the film is that I have seen too many of the films that Tim Burton likes, (or that I'm crazy)
