This sounds like another must have DVD set & WWE.com (survey.wwe.com) is asking fans to help shape the matches to be included on the set by taking a survey.
And yes, Angle vs. Benoit from the Royal Rumble 2003 is included as an option ...
My picks, FWIW. I know next to nothing when it comes to the 70s, so everything I pick there is based on hearsay.
70s: Pedro Morales vs. Ivan Koloff, 2/8/71 MSG - Picked because Morales won the title here. Bruno Sammartino vs. Stan Hansen, 4/27/76 MSG - I've always heard about this being really physical, so I'm curious. Bob Backlund vs. ‘Superstar’ Billy Graham, 2/20/78 MSG Bruno Sammartino vs. ‘Superstar’ Billy Graham, 10/30/78 MSG - See Sammartino/Hansen. Bob Backlund vs. Pat Patterson (Steel Cage Match), 9/24/79 MSG - I'm pretty sure I had read somewhere before that this was a decent match.
80s: Bob Backlund vs. Harley Race, 10/22/80 - WWF Champion vs. NWA Champion. How can you NOT put it on there? I remember reading about this years later in a PWI mag and thinking to myself "Holy Christ, they actually DID that match?" Hulk Hogan vs. The Iron Sheik, 1/23/84 MSG - C'mon, it kicked off the 80s boom and "Hulkamania." There's no way they can't include it. Hulk Hogan vs. ‘Mr. Wonderful’ Paul Orndorff (Steel Cage Match), 12/14/86 SNME - You have to include something from that feud. Hulk Hogan vs. Andre The Giant, Wrestlemania III - One of the most historic/remembered matches of all time, even if it really wasn't all that good. Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Savage, Wrestlemania V - I remember this match and feud as a kid, and it just seemed like such a big f'n deal.
90s: Randy Savage vs. Ric Flair, Wrestlemania VIII - I remember absolutely loving this match. Shawn Michaels vs Bret Hart in an Iron Man Match, WM XII - Do I really need to justify this? Of the Bret matches offered on this list, probably the best. Shawn Michaels vs Mankind, IYH: Mind Games (1996) - This was the first time I really stood up and took notice of Foley (I had only seen sporadic matches he had in WCW as Cactus Jack), and I loved this match. Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Shawn Michaels, WM XIV - The match where Austin wins the World Title and more or less becomes the next Hogan (in terms of icon status). I also assumed at the time that this would be Michaels' last match for a long time, if not ever. The Rock vs Mankind in an “I Quit” Match, '99 Royal Rumble I'll never, EVER, forget this match.
00s: Triple H vs Cactus Jack in a Street Fight, 2000 Royal Rumble Kurt Angle vs The Rock, No Mercy 2000 Chris Jericho vs Stone Cold Steve Austin, Vengeance '01 - Created the Undisputed Championship. It was supposed to be historic. Oh well! Kurt Angle vs Chris Benoit, Royal Rumble '03 - Easily the best match on the '00 list. Eddie Guerrero vs Brock Lesnar, No Way Out '04 - Eddy's one and only title reign. Admittedly, it's a sentimental pick, but it was also a pretty decent match.
Due to the nature of the DVD, I voted for the more important or historic matches, rather than the actual quality of the matches themselves.
I'm surprised there's only one Steve Austin title defense in the choices for the '90s, and I'm absolutely shocked that there's only one match involving HHH in the options for the '00s. I was also a little disappointed with the options for that era, but I don't know if that's due to the downturn the industry's experienced in this decade or the fact that, you know, we're only four months into 2006.

That was for the World title ... different lineage.
They should have had Mankind's first title win on there as a choice. The heat in that match was absolutely incredible. Watching the crowd go nuts when Foley won and did victory laps around the ring is one of those moments in wrestling that you can never forget.
Was the Sammartino-Zbyszko match at Shea for the title?
What about Snuka vs. Backlund when Snuka came off the cage?
If they include Hogan defeating Sheik, they should also throw in a few highlight clips of Sheik beating Backlund
They should probably also include Ultimate Warrior defeating Hogan at Skydome.
www.oklafan.com Big Show: Why is he getting the Intercontinental Title shot and not me? RVD: Ahhh...maybe 'cause you're a tool. Big Show: Look. I am 7'2". I am 500 pounds. I'm a giant. RVD: Oh ok. You're a giant tool.

The Shea match was 3 years after Bruno's last run. They do have parts of that match plus the match where Larry snapped on Bruno on the Steel Cage DVD. Snuka vs. Backlund is on the Steel Cage DVD as is Backlund vs. Patterson, while Hogan vs. Sheik and Sheik vs. Backlund are both on Wrestling Stars of the 80's DVD. I'm guessing there is some error on the poll, as it states Bruno vs. Valentine was for the Title in 1979, when Bruno lost the belt in '77. Also, the Graham vs. Bruno match from October '78 is 8 months after Graham dropped the belt to Backlund. Disappointed they don't have the Shea match between Bruno and Morales. And, they are really missing by not offering Savage vs. Hogan from '86 or Race vs. Hogan from '87.
Is it just me or should the DVD just contain every world title change in the company history? That's what a "History of The WWE Championship" means. The WWF did a version of this on vhs some years ago. They also released a History of the IC Title and Tag Team Champions. Tag Champions is great cause its just the whole title history, title change by title change. That's what this new dvd should be.

Whoa, good catch! I didn't even think of that! So...does that mean they'd consider the World Heavyweight Championship lineage to go straight back to the WCW belt before it was given to HHH on RAW, or would it be considered a brand-new championship? I'm not certain of the E's official position on this (if they ever had one).

Tony
I would imagine there'd be a documentary feature on the DVD. They could easily do that and all the matches with 3 discs, though I'd imagine if the Hart/Michaels Iron Man match got in there, it might make it a little tricky.

EVERY WWWF/WWF/WWE World Title change would actually require three Ironman matches (Hart/Michaels, HHH/Rock and Angle/Lesnar) plus a Royal Rumble. Those, alongside the seventy-some other title changes would take up a lot more than three discs. (Don't get me wrong - I'd buy it no matter how many it took.)

On the title history page at WWE.com, they only show that belt starting with HHH receiving it on RAW.

I actually meant the 20(?) matches they're going to eventually put on the DVD, not every title switch. My bad, I should've clarified.

Yeah, they've delayed this three years now. I orginally broke that they work working on something like this in 2003 but it never happened. I guess the time is now for it.
It looks as if they're mainly letting, us, the fans decide what will be on it. I have ooked over everything but from what I've seen it going to be tough for people to make up the mind. I like the list that Deputy Marshall has made I hope his list makes it because I could stand those.
It's been a couple of weeks since I've gone for the full treatment, but we're now officially on the Road to Wrestlemania! How many more bumps will we hit on the way? Lets find out together!
