I think this is probably what he is talking about, but I read an article where a touch football game between highschool senior girls and junior girls left some injured. Apparently during it there was blood, mud, animal parts, feces thrown on the juniors. Also many were left bruised or requiring stitches including one with a broken ankle

Local cops usually take a "boys will be boys" approach to minor things stemming from traditions like this. At least, they do in Calgary. A few fisticuffs stemming from a football game is small compared to rapists and murderers. That being said, it's disgracing to the school, the team and the athletes and alumni that this was allowed to get this far out of hand.

"Marina felt her earrings ripped from her ears, and punches and kicks to her ribs and tailbone. Welts bloomed where Lauren and Dayna were pummeled and a bruise appeared on Cheryl's upper lip.

"One of the girls said the juniors were forced to put paint thinner in their mouths and were throwing up. Some were smeared with excrement. One of the girls said pig intestines were wrapped around her face. Another said Spam and raw meat were crammed into their mouths. One of the girls said she was hit in the back of the head with a bucket. But it was the punches and kicks that were the worst."

That's not just a fistfight, man. That's absolutely disgusting. I could give a fuck about a fistfight; that's healthy for teenagers. That shit was raw. Putting paint thinner in some kid's mouth could kill them if they swallowed it.

I stand by my "why the fuck aren't those little bitches in jail" view.

Wow, I had just seen this on MSNBC, they showed video of it.
Why do stupid people do dumb things in front of others who have video cameras? Some of the girls just looked super evil. I feel really bad for the girls on the receiving end of this needless and retarded incident.

One of the local news stations interviewed some girl from the school this happened at, and she was pissed this was even an issue. Her quote went pretty much like this:

"Some girl got her head split open, big deal no one died."

I pity the next generation. I saw a friggin BASEBALL BAT in some of those shots for crissakes...

Edit: The Spam thing is no joke either, there were definitely Spam cans visibly bouncing off people. Not to mention GUYS coming over and kicking girls that were lying on the ground. I hope these kids get friggin' ruined...

It is interesting how certain stories get more attention than others. Just last week I read an article about a hazing incident involving a fraternity. Some kid was forced to drink large amounts of water in what was called "water torture" which led to his death due to swelling around the brain. You don't hear anyone complaining about that. On the other hand, this story involving the girls, which is also completely unacceptable and wrong, will get much more attention than the death.

I don't understand why the girls just sat their and let this happen to them. How moronic is that?

This is simply a reminder of the fantastic hypocrisy of many in Hollywood. They conflate robust criticism with censorship; they equate popular boycotts with government blacklists; they claim to be persecuted, while actually they have an amazing capacity to reach audiences other political activists can only dream of. And yet, when the slightest criticism directly affects them, they do all they can to shut dissent down. Instructive, isn't it? Industry honchoes who wouldn't have jobs without the right to free expression are only too eager to squash it when that speech dares to criticize them- Andrew Sullivan

The following link has lots of info, including video and slideshow from the incident.

BadJocks.com

This was just so wrong on many levels. I am sure that this is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of hazing. It would probably not be a national story, except that someone taped it. If there was video of the 'watrer torture' that Moneylnk mentions, it would be a big issue.

Things like this have just gotten so out of hand. I remember having to strip down and run naked across the campus, but that was it. No big deal, when compared to today's hazings.

I agree. There is an enormous difference between getting somebody into doing something embarassing and forcing them to be a victim of heinous criminal activity.

"Paint buckets being thrown at people. It was pretty radical," said Luke Nasserbakht, student.

I can't imagine why reading a quote like that makes me ashamed to share a species with the Luke Nasserbakhts of the world.

The sad thing was, when I was in college it was always that way. The frats would always make their pledges do stupid, embarrassing things like streaking or wearing dresses to classes or have to clean up after parties. The girls on the other hand, were always much more vicious and brutal. One sorority made their pledges carve their letters into their arms with razors. Another sent their pledges in their underwear to the different frat houses to do *whatever* the boys there asked them to do. It made me sick - and what was worse it that most of the girls would willingly do it, just so they could be in that sorority.

On a side note (just because I love to bitch about it), I was in the only sorority that didn't haze. By the end of my senior year, we had been shut down by the national board of our sorority- not because we drank too much, did drugs or killed someone- but because we focused too much on academics and charity work and not enough on social events. They sited their main reason being that we didn't project the image they wanted for their sorority - even if we had the highest grades of any greek organization on campus we still had half our members with hair colors not found in nature and watched Smackdown! at our meetings.

The moral of the story is, even if people get outraged about one event, society as a whole will always accept and encourage the actions of the majority no matter how cruel and vicious they are.

This is unbelievable. I watched those videos and when I saw the one girl screaming in pain while others beat her, the girl was screaming "help me...someone please help me," I was totally outraged. I would be so extremely pissed if I lived in that school district. Hell, I was initiated into a fraternity in college and nothing even remotely violent or disgusting occurred.

Yeah, that's weird. Of course, I think that the fact that they didn't fight back was the only thing keeping this whole situation from escalating to a full-scale riot. That could have been much uglier.

But who knows why more didn't attempt to just leave. Maybe they saw the few that did get tossed right back in with a few kicks and punches and didn't figure it was worth the effort.

And I noticed in the abc link the answer to MoneyInk's question, why yes some of the victims DO plan to participate next year. It's tradition, and we all know that's a good reason to do anything, no matter how stupid it may be.

The next years junior girls should just sit there laughing at the seniors (junior who recieved this hazing). Nothing they could do would compare to the humiliation/pain these juniors went through.

I think one of the reasons that the original trigoly was better then the current movies is because the originals came out in the 70's & 80's, and back in their time there was no PG13, there was PG and R.
