RAW has necrophilia, but SmackDown! has Mattitude! It's time for The Great Thomas SmackDown! Report!

Hardy vs. Rikishi: Mattitude is practiced in 10 countries. I know I practice it! Rikishi is still an opening match wrestler... PFFFFT! Rikishi wins via OMG RIKISHIDRIVER!

Big Show: Yep. He's on SmackDown!

Stephie: What a nice trophy. Well, they deserve it! Stupid rubes! Angle does NOT suck! HA! HA! HA! Stephie got CLOCKED! Benoit makes the stupid ugly laugh and the "Popeye face" (credit: DEAN), and now we have Benoit vs. Angle! WOOHOO!

SOCOM: Look! Online gaming!

Honky Tonk Man vs. Tajiri: Tajiri's Elvis impression... this is why I love Japanese people! Honky wins via Roll-up w/bridge w/Nidia. Tazz in the Elvis wig is hilarious!

Dawn Marie et Torrie: Thank God Mr. Wilson isn't here!

Edge/Mysterio vs. Guerrero/Guerrero: The rudos are hot tonight! Rey-Rey is the STRONGER man?! Everybody sells for everybody else. Edge wins via legdrop from Mysterio.

Undertaker: AWWWW, CRAP! He's still here! Why can't you STAY OFF MY TV?!

Undertaker vs. Brock: Well, at least he's acknowledging his defeat. Good for him. Good for me! Mutual respect is a beautiful thing. And thus, Big Show ends Taker's career. So long, Deadman. Rest In Pieces.

A Shocking, Startling Story on SmackDown!: Don't worry, he's alive! And still no-selling, I see, though Tazz and Cole cover it up by calling him "a proud man." Hey, is that Arn Anderson? It's now 9:30 PM.

Mr. Wilson: Thank God this angle's over! And it goes out French Romance Movie style! Woo!

Kidman vs. Cena: Tights not so ugly today. Kidman wins via rollup. OMG PROTOTYPE LIVES!

The Main Event: Well, folks, you asked for it, here it is... COMMERCIAL BREAK!

Jackass: The Movie: Concerned Parents, don't let your stupid kids see this movie!

The Main Event: Well, folks, you asked for it, here it is... THE BENOIT-ANGLE MATCH! Why is the crowd dead?! If this was a Rock match you damned rubes would be on your feet for every move! PFFFFT! Anyway, suplexes abound! Benoit hits the headbutt! AND the Crossface! Now the Anklelock! Reversals galore! NOW the fans are standing! Benoit wins via rudos. And Angle takes the broken trophy! HA HA HA!

That's all for this week. Until then, Good Night, take care of yourselves, and let us all have a moment of silence for the Decade of Destruction... or not.

Another good Smackdown. I don't know if it's Heyman's booking or not, but I'm *actually* interested in Brock/Show. If Brock can pull of the F5 on Rikishi you damn well know he can do it to Show, and it will be tight.

As long as Wight doesn't pull any 20 minute promos or beats Brock at any time, I'll be happy. Brock needs more fodder before losing the belt.

I got tired of the segment of Taker on the stretcher. It was ok for a little bit, but it just kept going on and on, and what was the point? He wasn't involved at all the rest of the night. Oh well.

Besides that, no real complaints. Angle vs Benoit was the quality match we have come to expect from them, not terrific but it is just a testament to both of them how high our standards are for them these days.

The tag team match was really fun to watch, and Eddie's face at the end was priceless.

Big Show did manage to look impressive and imposing, but what is the plan, keep him as a tweener? Last week on Raw he chased out Jamal and Rosie with the strap, then went after RVD in the lumberjack match. This week he beats Rico, Jamal and Rosie on RAW like a face, gets traded to Smackdown, and immediately proceeds to chockslam Rikishi and toss Taker off the stage, then challenges (supposedly still heel?) Brock Lesnar.

My predicition as of right now is a lot of triangle feud stuff, maybe a triple threat match in the near future. Don't get me wrong, having a bit of mystery and surprise isn't a bad thing, I am just trying to figure out what will happen.

All in all a good show, definately helps ease the pain of RAW. We could have done without watching Taker's every stumble from off the stretcher, but that was a minor issue really.

P.S. where are Billy and/or Chuck? Less than a month ago they were tag champions and while not huge draws, we were seeing segments with them every week. Now they are split up and wrestling singles, and they weren't in the PPV and weren't on Smackdown this week except maybe in a cameo. Where did they go? I think it would be such a shame if the WWE did the whole marriage angle just to end up with two more singles midcarders on Velocity.

Jaime Knoble impersonating Elvis was a million times funnier than mannequin humping. Did Undertaker actually put over Brock with that promo? If so, when did he become so giving? And I am SO getting a Matt Hardy shirt next week.

how did matt hardy go from being the shitty hardy boy to getting a devoted following so fast? that mattitude must be something else.

and there must be nothing more frightening than a japanese man squealing like a little girl and about to dropkick you in the face.

Billy is injured (torn rotator cuff?) and Chuck had a fairly high profile match against Brock last week, but wasn't on this week. Maybe he'll show up on Velocity?

I should have listened to spf2119 about HHH because he is the smartest Wiener around.

Since everyone else is doing it (ok, not EVERYONE, but...)

Vikings (1-5) - Well on our way back to 1-15.
Badgers (5-3) - Apparently the Motto is now "Wisconsin: Seeing How Many Close Games We Can Lose"
Twins (OUT) - Oh well, if we're still around next year...
Buffy 7.5 earns a 9 out of 10 because Anya is really damn cool this season. The flashbacks were funny (another musical, Joss?). The continuity from past seasons was tremendous, and just about everything else clicked for me. Plus! Barely any Dawn!

Oh, it definitely is. You know, Mattitude is practiced worldwide! Over 10 countries! I admit to jumping on the bandwagon, if there is one. I was never a real fan of Matt Hardy until he broke off from Jeff and showed us all Matt Hardy version 1. And that new V1 shirt is kinda cool, but I didn't get to see the back of it.

Like Aphrodite's Reflection said, Eddie's face at the end of his match was CLASSIC!!!! Definitely my favorite part of the night. The way he was so cocky after putting Chavo on Edge and didn't see Rey go in, and then turned around and his eyes nearly shot out of his head was be-yoo-tee-ful. With each and every Smackdown I worship Eddie more and more. And Chavo with Eddie RULES too.

I think the point was that you ain't going to see him again for quite a while. He's taking off to do daddy stuff. ;-) As a Taker fan, I admit that segment went on a bit long, but that was his sendoff for the next several weeks. A good one, IMO...

-Rikishi V. Matt Hardy- Matt Hardy is great, Mattitude is cool, Matt's bedtime is 4 am. I'm loving this guy, so they job him to the big tub of lard *sigh*... Big Show runs in and nails Rikishi, BS is the better of the 2 fat frucks.

-Angle/Benoit/Steph inring- Trophy taking a bump is a natural ways of things in the WWE. Steph taking a spill. Angle was funny, Benoit was okay but he has to wait if he says something good so the fans can react. Benoit laugh not good.

-Noble v. Tajiri- Funny mini-Elvis. Real great match. Maybe even better then the PPV match. Nidia's the best female manager/ valet I've seen in a long time. Fun match... Tazz was too funny with the wig and asking Cole to touch his "bush". I'm actually kinda looking forward to next week to see what those two will be wearing. (I know I'm in the minority)

-Edge/Mysterio v. Guerrero's- Match of the night. This was awesome again, love that move where the Guerrero's both caught Rey and used him like a clothesline on Edge. Total fastpaced action. Great stuff.

-Taker/ Brock/ Bigshow- Well the coolest thing from the next 2 segments is the opening video package. That WAS cool. Then goes downhill Taker comes out and puts over a younger more athletic man over well good for you Taker. Blah. Big Show comes out Taker admits he's a hasbean (okay Mark that's step one) Says BS is a never was (I hear Tony S. screaming "It's a shoot"). Nice impressive throw by BS to Taker... After the break WAY too cheesy with him "I won't listen to doctors dammit" Please Leave oh great TAker main event spot replaced by BigSHow how fun.

-Kidman v. Cena- I know these guys are talented, I just don't really care. What team is Cena tights representing this week? When that's the only question the crosses my mind, it's probably not a good thing... Kidman cheats, Cena doesn't like cheaters

-Benoit v. Angle- I also ask why weren't the fans biting? I guess the two heels or are the faces? no heels this week. Oh well it was a nice match love the reversing of the reversals of the submission and Eddie getting involved to cause trouble is a build to things to come.

-other stuff- OMG I really think they are agreeing with Dean R and doing a double switch with Torrie/Dawn with Dawn and Al having true love and Torrie being a bitch about it.

LIne of the night- Dawn: "THe very FEW men I've been with" (crowd laughs).... Also liked Tazz" "Come on Cole touch my bush"

We were never told who got traded to Raw for Big Show, were we? (Or did I miss something?) You'd think it would be somebody who wasn't on the show tonight. Maybe give both Chuck & Rico something interesting to do?

Was Paul Heyman sincerely that bruised on the side of his face??

When Kurt was trying to hang onto the trophy: "Its mine -- all mine!". Classic Daffy Duck.

Tajiri is looking just a bit sharper lately than he had. Don't know if its just a chemistry thing with Jamie Noble or what, but I'm liking it.

No comments from the guys yet about Dawn Marie being soooooo double-sided-taped into that dress? I'm suprised. Dawn Marie playing Torrie's dad continues to escalate my "euwwww" response. (Given the choice, I'd much rather hear about teenage Kane's semen, than Torrie's dad's semen. Eeuuwwww.)

In Los Guereros vs. Edge & Rey, I don't think Chavo's face was supposed to bounce off the turnbuckle quite the way it did. He may end up with purple bruises. And, y'know, before I actually saw it, if anybody had told me that Rey & Edge teaming together would be sooo much fun, I would have laughed & scoffed. I'm enjoying the hell out of them together!

Angle & Benoit were their usual -- excellent -- they're getting us awfully spoiled. We didn't have the optimum camera angle, but didn't Kurt do a "Holy Shit Flip" in there that almost didn't get all the way around?

For Angle/Benoit, I'm wondering if the live crowd was still somewhat out of it from the Undertaker business. I knew it was a work, but (and) I was still bothered by how strongly they played it. (Its not a bad thing that they did it so powerfully -- just uncharacteristic for the Fed.) I wonder if there weren't people in the live audience who weren't real sure that everything was really OK. Dunno.

I thought the Undertaker segment was very good, & actually had quite a bit of stuff crammed into it.
  • We're all OK & sympathetic about him being gone for as long as need be. (Did I hear something somewhere about him also needing surgery for an elbow thing, or did I dream that?)
  • When he is ready to come back, he's completely set up with a feud that will have been given credibility by the Brock/Show story we're embarking on.
  • He put Brock over in a huge way, & (IMO) positioned Brock for a split with Heyman & upcoming face turn.
  • For me, he absolutely nailed down Big Show's previous tweener-ness into uber-heel-ness. (Even top uberheel Brock was gracious to Undertaker -- Show calls him a "has bin" (not to be confused with Y2J's "has bean"), & flung him off the stage.

Tazz' comment afterwards was interesting: "Big Show waited for Lesnar to leave the area before he attacked Taker."

(That was much longer than I'd expected. Hmm.)

Ah, what a difference three days makes. Smackdown! seems like it's made by a whole different company than RAW. (Yes, I know they're different "brands" - but this goes further.)

Smackdown! has become the land of the rack-enhancing dress, hasn't it? First Screamin' Steph, then Dawn Marie. Steph's got to learn to wear pants when she's planning to take a bump - I see it's the white thong tonight, Steph.

Smackdown's pushing Show as a big, unstoppable thug. It's a good choice of character for Show; if they can manage to add in a little more personality, it would be fantastic. As others have mentioned, Show receiving the F5 should be something to see. I guess we'll find out on RAW who the other traded wrestler is. (Actually, you'll find out on RAW - I'll find out on the recap.)

All in all, the "worst" segment of Smackdown! - Taker's protracted departure - was far superior to RAW's "worst" segment - The Tape.

Damn, Brock hitting an F5 on Show will be damn impressive. I mean, Show probably weighs 470ish, and if he jumps with Brock on the intial spin up, once Brock gets him on his shoulders, Brock should have NO problem keeping him up there.... Brock squats more than 500 EASY and it would be insane to see him hold Show up for a bit and then just crush him. Show should ask Funaki how hard Brock is, I mean, the two guys (Brock and Funaki) are best friends!

    Random Smackdown Thoughts:

"Matt Hardy goes to bed at 4:00 AM." Hilarious. Hope we get new facts every week.

That Trophy segment was also hilarious.

So Show's taking credit for Lesnar beating Taker, that reeks of Russo. I did think that segment was alright because there was a Dean Malenko sighting!

I liked Brock Lesnar's interview. He actually showed a sense of humor.

The Tag-Team match was good though short.

The first minute of Angle-Benoit was better than all the Raw matches last Monday put together. Angle-Benoit was also the match of the night. I'm curious as to where this storyline with the Guerreros ends up.

    Overall, another very good Smackdown.

I'd like to thank Arn Anderson for trying to save the hideously long Taker on a stretcher segment by trying to drown out the screeching of Steph/Steph.
Seeing Terry Taylor there, a thought came to mind. If he's willing to get into the ring, wouldn't he make a nice team with Cena? Since SD is going tag team intensive (which i like), why not form one of those veteran/rookie teams, and see if anything builds up.
One note of credit to the fed: in a few months they have gone from a tag division with only chuckabilly to one with 6 legitimate tag teams between the two shows.

I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.
