Good of Sweden to draw with England at the death today. So in the Group of 16, England will clash with Ecuador and Germany takes on Sweden. | Canard

The only difference it made was that it kept the streak going that England have still not beaten Sweden in 38 years (12 matches).

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL~!
1-1. Luckily they got it before the break, because after the Italy match I was worried about them getting two goals in 45 minutes.
EDIT: Aw, shit.

I don't know if you can change that URL to make later matches work (for example, will http://espnevent1.espn.com.edgesuite.net/FIFA_June22_Croatia.asx or http://espnevent1.espn.com.edgesuite.net/FIFA_June22_Australia.asx work after 3 Eastern), or if it was just for the USA matchup.

Yes I'm elated the Socceroos made it to the Knockout Round. After all the U.S. is gone, Ireland didn't qualify, I'm pretty much down the Roos and whomever plays Brazil as who to root for.

Italy is beatable, and it would not shock me to see the Roos pull it off.

| #60 Posted on 23.6.06 1205.56 | Instant Rating: 4.75 | Maybe the ref from the Australia-Croatia game should have been using some space age technology to help him count yellow cards. Under normal circumstances, it's not possible to get 3 yellow cards in a game, but a Croatian player did so. It would have been interesting to see FIFA's response had Croatia scored after the second yellow on Simunic. The policy is to replay any game in which there is a technical error. But, given the schedule of the World Cup, that would have been extremely difficult.
Still, it was a fantastic game, albeit marred by some abominable refereeing. Go Socceroos! (even though I think you have only the slimmest of chances against Italy)
