Remember, the Caribbean Legend Savio Vega won the feud with Austin in the 'We Don't have Backup Power For Our PPV' matches. And while Austin dominated Bret in out of ring beatdowns, in matches Bret was the one who held the upper hand. As for Jake, he was just happy being paid to subsidize his dealers.

| #62 Posted on 3.2.03 1213.54 | I was just going to say, Austin lost his feud to Savio Vega and he never beat Bret Hart.
Although, the original plan they seemed to be going with was that Austin would defeat Bret for the gold at WrestleMania in 1998. Bret was dodging him as the heel champion and forcing Austin to go through the Hart Foundation.
That was the most dissapointing part of the whole 97 screwjob for me that we never really got the climax of the Austin-Bret feud. | oldschoolhero

Bret/Austin, Shawn/Bret, and Austin/Shawn were all scheduled at some point, if my memory serves me correctly. Metlz wrote a fantastic break-down of EVERYTHING building up to SS '97, which pretty much details the WWF's direction from 1996 through to early '98. A real interesting read, if you can find it.

I definately recall someone (I don't remember who) making reference to Teo in WWA. Oh well, whatever.
Ah, so that's what was missing. The quoteend.
EDIT: I found it. Click Here . So I forgot the first part, but I vaguely remembered something about the second part.

I thought it had to do with Teo in WWA as well, since Midgets are known for having big dicks (Foley's Book) and the conventional wisdom on Trip is he thinks he has the biggest dick in the business. Thus, the comparison to a midget.

SKeith mentioned in his latest feedbag that someone called in to WOL with a question about that very same thing, but got cut off after mentioning he heard it from Scott. I wonder if that's why Dave cut him off.

I thought Savio won the 'Dibiase must leave' match. Then the real Stone Cold was born and gave one of his 1st promos. Talkin bout he lost on purpose to get rid of Dibiase. Then they had a strap match w/ Dibiase gone and Stone Cold won that one. Did something happen after that?

Now remember, it's an artice in a WRESTLING MAGAZINE run by the WWE.
Remember how they manipulated people around the whole Shawn Michaels comeback...
Try to figure out which points in the rant were placed there by WWE writers so that Austin could come back with the maximum fan base behind him, and which points were written for him to have jumping-off points into immediate storylines.
A well-done ass-covering work.
Of course, if Austin is going to be handed the key to the city like all the bandwagon jumpers say, why not? I mean if Vince allowed him to him a jackass etc. on live TV, why wouldn't he let him spew for a cheap mag that would probably sell if Steve was giving out hair tips?
And as for the other revisionist history about him not working well: a) He's got a seriously screwed up neck and knees compared to the days of the Hollywood Blondes. He was worst in '99 anyway.
b) the same "five moves of doom" syndrome that every main eventer (and heck, most midcarders)get mired into. And yes, that includes other promotions as well.
c) Taker didn't have a problem dropping his tombstone for a couple years before Mick showed up to bump for him. Not to mention not jobbing to Brock either the first time. Ah, must be that veteran lockerroom leadership again. | | Pages: Prev 1 2 3 4
