Now that day one is over, at least the ESPN portion, discuss:

-- The Bengals. Nuff Said.

-- As a Lions fan, I'm happy they got Harrington. but what was when Millen not being on board with the pick? Put on that game face, Matt, please.

-- Trades, trades, trades. It's funny how many teams just flip-flopped. I thought that was odd.

How did your team do?

I dont think the pick is down to them yet, but boy i hope my steelers take Antonio Bryant if teams are stupid enough to let him fall. He is a top 10 talent, no doubt about it...and i hope he turns into a Pittsburgh Steeler.

I think my team blew chunks on day one. I was reading the Pro Football Weekly synopsis of the four Redskins picks over on ESPN.com, and outside of Ramsey at QB, there was hardly a good thing to say about the other three turkeys. Two of them had a history of injuries longer than their "accomplishments." I am left scrathing my head. The team really had a need on both lines and safety. After today's draft, they have 4 QBs on the roster (who have played a total of about 6 NFL games)7 or 8 receivers, 7 cornerbacks (two of which are trying to play safety) and a few other useless bodies. I usually try my best not to judge a draft until a few years later so I can see how it all pans out, but I'm feeling hopeless and perplexed on this Saturday night.

The draft picks for the Eagles were a bit odd. No linebackers or wide receivers but 2 corners and a safety. They may not have been the best picks but I understand the reasoning. We are going to play the Rams once and the Redskins twice this year so the team will see a lot of 4 WR sets. In addition, this team was ahead in a lot of their games and saw 4 WR sets from teams trying to come back. We need to be deep at the CB position in order to counter those sets.

The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over. But it can't. Not without your help. But you're not helping.

The Steelers got Antwaan MF'n Randle El. You lucky bastards. This boy will blow people's minds before all is said and done.

I'm not overly impressed with the Seahawks picks, but who knows? The draft is such a crapshoot.

I wonder if the Steeler's goal is to have as many multi-talented players on their roster as possible? Randle-El is a great pick and will probably help that team out no matter where they find him playing time.

We were talking at lunch today if they would do wacky things like put them both in the backfield at once to confuse the defense or put Kordell in the slot and El behind center.

Imagine this nightmare scenario if you're the defense. Steelers come to the line. Stewart in shotgun, Bettis lines up to the right of him. Ward out right, Burress out left. Tight end lined up to the right, and Randle El goes in motion from right to left, ending up in the backfield when the ball is snapped. When Stewart gets the ball he can:

-Hand the ball to Bettis for a run.
-Hand the ball to Randle El for a run.
-look for a pass to Hines Ward
-look for a pass to Plaxico Burress
-look for a pass to Randle El
-look for a pass to Bettis
-look for a pass to tight end
-hand the ball to Randle El who can then:
-run the ball himself
-look for a pass to Ward
-look for a pass to Burress
-look for a pass to the tight end
-look for a pass to Bettis
-look for a pass to Kordell who can break out of the backfield.

All I can say is Mike Martz would have an orgasm drawing up plays for this offense.

With Candidate and Faulk... not to mention picking up crouch and the all purpose Prohl Martz has quite a few of those options. The only difference is crouch is the receiver instead of a back. He is still available to run pass options although i dont know if they will groom him as a backup qb instead.

I have a feeling my Steelers are going to be VERY fun to watch this year. Can we overcome the AFC Championship Game jinx? Thats the million dollar question. Me, I already want a Randel El jersey.

Can you imagine being a defensive coordinator trying scheme for the Steelers? So many weapons. With a healthy Mark Bruener at TE its like having 6 on the O-Line. Randle El, Famous Amos, Kordell, Fu, Plaxico, Hines Ward, The Bus. Look at those weapons! How do you plan for that? If you play the run you will get killed on the pass, if you play the pass we will pound you with the run. For the first time in many many years I am excited about the Pittsburgh offense.

Here we go Steelers!

I think if you are in the passing lane, and not passing, your license should be revoked, and you should be forced to ride the bus until you promise to never delay the rest of us again.

I watched the draft (along with the White Sox) for about 6 hours, and the Bears picked....a tackle. Not the most exciting pick I've ever seen, but I guess we needed him. As for the Steelers, I played against Randle El in high school, and he was just amazing even then. He used to pitch the ball from basically the ground on the option (there were differing opinions from our sideline and theirs). Just a terrific athlete. I wish the Bears would pick up an athletic quarterback like the Steelers have (Kordell, Tee Martin, Randle El) lately. Miller and Chandler just don't do it for me. I mean, who is the quarterback of the future for us?

You're all just jealous. Jealous because the Bengals have agood team and are shitty and you wish you WERE a Bengals fan. It's all good. Oh, and you forgot Warrick, he's good.
