MLB has made it very clear that this is financially unfeasible. They already have to block out hotel rooms and make a bunch of other arrangements in four different cities; having to up this to as many as seven is something they aren't willing to consider.

And given that, I don't understand all the dislike for using the All-Star Game. I can totally get why you'd want to have it decided by something important like season record. But I don't get why people would want to go back to alternating years. If it's going to be essentially random anyway, why not use it to give a little rub to the All-Star Game?

The rule change I'd like to see: go to five-man umpiring crews. The fifth spot will be in front of a video monitor, where that ump can give the other members of the crew rulings and corrections instantly. Gives the umps an easier day (they'll be off their feet) and integrates the replays into the crew rather than having it be imposed by someone else or having to interrupt the game.

Are you some kind of troll-bot? Or a clone of the single most curmudgeonly, backwards person alive? You can't be serious. Your posts in here have been utterly ridiculous.

Also it's hilarious you mention what I quoted, when the AL has absolutely owned the NL for such a long time now. :D

On your first point, I'd tend to believe MLB a little more on this matter if the NHL and NBA didn't pull off the same exact thing MLB says they cannot do EVERY YEAR.

On your second, if they competed in the All-Star Game as though something was at stake, that would be one thing. That it annually comes down to a mix of Pirates, Marlins, and Royals (and others that aren't in the playoff hunt) puts the thing into farce in my book.

Obviously they don't think it's the same; I would presume that's because baseball stadiums are way way bigger than football/hockey arenas. Don't get me wrong; if they *can* do it based on best record, I'm 100& for that. But it doesn't seem that they ever will.

And I just don't see why it's any more of a farce than it coming down to whose turn it is. That's all I'm saying.

Touche. My point is that while Johnny Damon does improve the woeful Centerfield production the Yanks had last year, they're still the second best offensive team without getting him.
