Were any of the WWE "Desire" videos included as extras on any WWE DVDs? I have a few downloaded on my computer, but really, I know I'm missing a bunch. And I guess I'm also talking about the other videos like the Kurt Angle one set to "Clocks" by Coldplay - my all-time favorite. These were very effective in setting up returns for Angle & HHH, when they were returning from injury. Too bad the E isn't still making these.

So yeah, one, were any of these music montages included on any DVDs?

And two, what songs can you see them using as an uplifting backdrop in the future? (or what songs are out there like "Clocks" that would work well in wrestling?) I ask because I'm making a video for the local chapter of the Special Olympics and am not so "up" on music anymore.

Not sure, but there's a good chance that they aren't, as WWE would have to shill out some money for the rights of the song. In fact, on the Survivor Series 2001 DVD, they have the WWF desire video, but they replace "My Sacrifice" with some generic music. It doesn't really have the same impact.

Really? I have SS 2001. Whereabouts is it on the disc?

I think it's after the battle royal. With the Creed song, the video is really cool. However, on the disc they replace the song with random music, and it's just a bunch of clips randomly thrown together.

I was curious about this myself, since I couldn't figure out why U2 and Coldplay would allow their music to be used on WWE programming. Is the legal situation that any music can be used for one-time only reasons (like how ESPN sometimes uses well-known songs for highlight packages) but upon replays, there must be fees paid?

As part of the Viacom media conglomerate, WWE gets the same treatment the rest of the company does. Oftentimes Viacom negotiates short-term contracts for use of music in video packages (ESPN & WWE for example), but doesn't shell out the bucks to use said music in perpetutity because that would cost too much. Hence, replacing the music in video packages after the use contract has expired.

I think the 'Taker "Desire" video is on the Unforgiven 2002 disc, and a Benoit vid is on the Hard Knocks set, though I'm not sure if it's the same as his "Desire" one.

I actually have the original "Desire" video Flair showed to coax Vince out of bringing in the nWo that I've deliberately never taped over. Right after it airs the only thing JR says is a quiet, "Wow."

yeah that was a great moment. The Benoit video you mention is the one set to One Thing by Finger Eleven. And it is the original one.

And of course we can't forget the touching one for Kevin Nash.

Unforgiven 02 DVD has the Taker Desire as an extra but it's a bit different from the one they showed on tv. The DVD one has long clips of taker actually fighting at the Unforgiven PPV, while the TV one was shown on the Smackdown previous to it, so the TV is way better.

I think these are all of em- The first was Creed shown in October 01, then i think they had an extended version a month later, the the Triple H one in December 01, they had the History of WWE one in January followed quickly by the nWo remix version, then came The Rock one in March 02 with ''Alive'' by POD, the the Austin one in May 02 I believe with ''My Sacrfiice'', Then in September 02 the Jeff Hardy one with ''Not Enough'' then the Taker one later in the month, the Angle ''Clocks'' one before his return in June 03 without ''Desire'' captions I believe, the Foley tribute video with Staind that same month.

I think thats them all...help if im missing one. Thank goodness i have them all on good ol VHS. Im getting a cap card soon so hopefully il slap them all on DVD or VCD.

Well done, well done. Just to be comprehensive, I believe there was one for the whole roster done in, I want to say, May 2002, set to Creed "Weathered." I thought there were also Austin and Undertaker ones set to "My Sacrifice" that showed up in November 2001. And wasn't there a Matt Hardy "what is Mattitude" parody video from fall 2002?

Edge also got a desire promo set to "My Sacrifice" which showed his yearbook photo from high school and all sorts of other things, as that was around the first "time to push Edge to the top...oops, he's injured." push.

You guys are correct, there were two Taker vids and an Edge and Matt Hardy one. But i do believe there where only 2 current superstar Desire videos one in October and One in November 01 that was a bit longer.
