The QMJHL is notable because of the second coming of Hockey Jesus, Sydney Crosby. The kid's 17, draft eligible in June (if there's a draft)...and INSANELY GOOD. Gretzky good...almost. His team (the Rimouski Oceanic) have played 5 games...and he has 18 points in 'em.
The WHL is notable (for me) because of Flames prospect Dion Phaneuf of the Red Deer Rebels. The guy's a combo of Al MacInnis & Paul Coffey: Big, smart & strong.
The OHL just has good hockey. Yep.

I encourage anyone to go check out their local junior or minor team(s) because you'll have a great time.

I had the chance to watch Crosby live on numerous occasions and, yes, he is simply phenomenal.
The Crosby Show is in full effect this year. Rimouski lost 3-2 tonight but he managed to get two assists anyway. 20 points in 6 games. I doubt he'll be able to get as much points as Lafontaine and Lemieux but he this kid is special, no doubt about it.
About Dion Phaneuf...I love that guy. He really impressed me the times I saw him play.

Of course, this is because this year's Cup is held in....London. I never figured out the logic in one team automatically getting a bye into the finals, thus making their whole season pretty meaningless.
Nevertheless, hell, we'll take it! Go Knights go!

For you QMJHL followers, keep an eye on my cousin Jared Vokey of the Victoriaville Tigres.

I really need to get over to Lewiston to see a game or two this season. Maybe I'll have to see when Victoriaville is in town.

Flames prospect D Dion Phaneuf leads all WHL defensemen with 4 goals and 4 assists in 6 games, and is tied for the lead in WHL scoring.

My son has taken up hockey this year, so he'll want to go at least a few times...
Good value for the tickey's and the Generals make the trip pretty good for the kids.
