Stevie Y, the leader of the Wings for 20 seasons (an NHL record), also led the team to three Stanley Cups, was a 10 time All Star, is 8th all time in goals scored (692), 7th all time in assists (1063), and won a gold medal playing with Canada in the 2002 Olympics.
All of Hockey Town will miss Steve, but lucky for us he's going to stay within the organization.
Personally, I hope he becomes an assistant or maybe even head coach. It always seemed that the team played better just having him present, and I'd like to think that will happen when he's behind the bench instead of sitting on it.
I guess there's still a chance, however slim, that Crosby will end up somewhere else, but it'll have to be Pittsburgh picks him and deals him in a major trade.
